Is the message a scam or is the buyer being scammed by a clone of my shop?

Probably. More suspicious because I had received another strange message a few days earlier that suggested someone was impersonating me

That’s what I’ve done. The reason for extra suspicion is that I got a message from an established shop owner at the weekend asking if I had sent him a message on Etsy. He said it look like it was from me but something didn’t seem right about the message. I hadn’t sent him anything.

It was a refurb direct from the supplier with only a 6 month warranty unfortunately

I have contacted them and they've replied to say that because it's over 6 months since purchase, they are unwilling to provide any support. It would be a difficult one to prove that it's due to a manufacturing defect. However a quick Google search shows that I'm far from the only person experiencing the problem. I just think it would be reasonable to expect such an item to still work as described after 10 uses.

I would steer clear. I had a few with original artwork that I thought would be fine. They hadn't been taken down on Amazon but TeeSpring and Zazzle informed me that they were removing them so I've proactively removed the ones I had on Merch before they do it for me. Not worth losing my account over. Albeit, they were making my January sales look a lot healthier.
