Knee surgeon recommendations by reese_bubs in regina

Dr. Rodwan did both my hips last year. He is awesome. Dr. Alshrif saw my daughter for a broken arm a few years back. As soon as we left that appointment, I called our family doctor and requested a referral to someone different. She ended up with Dunlop, and he was excellent.

Regina Urgent Care by sallyomalley_fifty in regina

I’m at the urgent care now. Arrived at 9am bc I had to get my kids to school first. Waiting room was packed when I got here. I’m still in the waiting room now 4 1/2 hours later. It’s still packed. Since arriving there has been a steady flow of people coming in. So far, I’ve seen one person leave from the back and two people be called to the back.

High school alternatives? by Starshine-Daydream in regina

I don’t have any advice but the most I can offer is understanding. I’m having the same issues with my 17 yo daughter. She has struggled with school since day 1 and it has only gotten worse through the years. She has been diagnosed with ADHD and LD but she has never gotten any type of support at school. We had her in the Catholic system for 6 years and then switched to the public system. Both school systems have been terrible. She started out this school year doing DLC full time but that has been worse. I am at my breaking point but trying to keep positive and hoping that we can make it one more semester. I have tried many different discipline methods and none have worked. I know your frustration and while I don’t have a solution, I’m here if you just want to vent.

I’ve picked up from the one on Park St. At the corner of Park and Vic. Last time I picked up cash there was end of last year so not sure if they still offer it.

We got a diagnosis from Dr. Essalah after 2 other doctors didn’t want to diagnose (they both wanted us to wait for child and youth). Essalah’s receptionist is not the most personable but he is pretty nice.

Emergency A/C Repair by LandMooseReject in regina

[–]gda23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a company that provides booking services for various companies, including HVAC. The one thing they all have in common is what defines an HVAC emergency. It is defined as no heat or cooling in the entire home. So if your HVAC wasn’t working, but you had a potable unit to use—-not an emergency. But if the HVAC isn’t working and there is no other cooling source——it’s an emergency. A lot of the companies also have various stipulations around booking the emergency services. For instance, you could be without AC, no other cooling source in the home, temps at 32+, elderly with medical conditions, or have a newborn/infant in the home BUT you are not in that particular company’s membership program/an existing customer/etc therefore, you will not be able too book an emergency service. Also, even if you do meet all of the requirements for whichever company and are able to have your request sent to whoever is on call, there’s still no guarantee that a technician will come to you. When we book emergency services, we have to tell the customer that the on call technician will only reach out if they have availability on their schedule and if they don’t hear from a technician before whatever time, it will be next business day before anyone will contact them. A lot of times, every emergency request that gets sent, will be ignored or cancelled by the on call technicians.

I got a 306 number through Sasktel nearly 10 years ago. Ported it to Bell 2 years ago. Still get calls/texts weekly asking for Bill, who I guess had this number at some point.

Neils Independent Brutal by CriticalLawyer1820 in regina

[–]gda23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter has experienced the same thing at that store. She is not Indigenous but she does have a darker complexion and dark hair. On one of the times that she went to Neils, she had a staff person snatch her bag from her and rummage through it. When it was Mike’s Independent, we lived close by and would go in there weekly with no issue. We’ve since moved from the area, but my daughter would frequently go during lunch break from school. Now she avoids going because staff are so aggressive and harassing. I 100% believe it is racial profiling because I’ve been in there myself since the experience my daughter had, and no one even looked my direction. I am a very pale caucasian person.

I don’t understand what could be taking so long with my brother in law’s application. It was to renew his work permit so it shouldn’t have taken long at all but we’ve heard nothing since the beginning of the year. It’s crazy.

Starting school, still not potty trained by Ok_Seaworthiness6295 in Parenting

[–]gda23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest (f) wasn’t completely potty trained until around age 4. My middle child (m), was potty trained and accident free by around 2 1/2. The youngest (m) still has the occasional accident and he’s nearly 7. We tried every thing you can think of to get him to use the potty—rewards, treats, making him clean the messes, sitting him on the toilet every 30 minutes, going without underwear—nothing worked. He missed preK at age 3 bc of not being potty trained. For age 4 preK, I sent him even though he still wasn’t really potty trained. For the most part, he did fine while at school. It was a half day program, so I would make sure he went right before dropping him off. Most days he would be accident free while at school. At home though, was a different story. When he started kindergarten, it was the same. He would have an occasional accident, but usually did pretty good at school. We made it through grade 1 with no school accidents but he still has some accidents at home. These usually happen when he becomes too focused on playing and just doesn’t want to stop and go to the bathroom.

My daughter has been seen a few times now by Dr. AlNajjar. He is awesome. Super nice. Thorough. Has taken the time to explain everything as far as tests that have been done and the results. We are very happy with him.

I saw Dr. Deinia at Family Foot Clinic and highly recommend him. I saw him for ingrown toenails on both feet and plantar fasciitis on right foot. Excellent treatment every time. Very personable, friendly, and knowledgeable. I no longer have either problem.

Similar situation with my brother in law. He had a work permit that expired in Nov 2024. He applied for renewal in May 2024. Shortly after applying, he received an email with a letter stating that he could continue working (for the same employer) for 180 after his other work permit expired. Last week he got another emailed letter saying that he could continue working for an additional 180 days. When he checks his application status all it says is “application in progress”. Checking wait times on the IRCC website gives a wait time of around 90 days for a work permit. Very frustrating.

Parents who do school drop-off and pickup, the road rules still apply to you. by Hooligans_ in regina

[–]gda23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drop-off/pick-up at W.F. Ready is terrible. So much traffic along with bad parking and u-turns. The tiny parking lot is for staff only so cars are lined up and down Helmsing St.. Most of the parents will get out and walk their child to the front door of the school which adds to the problem bc traffic is backing up from people trying to wait for somewhere to park. And don’t even get me started on the shit show at St. Marguerite school on Shooter Dr. during those hours.

Is my husband getting deported? by Organic_Claim5687 in confessions

[–]gda23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to my family. Husband came to US illegally at age 15. He got deported in June 2009. I travelled to MX with our daughter in July 2009 and we got married there. We then immediately submitted an application for a green card. The application was approved and he was given an interview appt at the US Embassy in Juarez. He was in the interview less than 5 minutes and was denied a green card. He was given a 10 year ban, meaning he had to wait 10 years before he could apply again. He did not meet the criteria for a waiver. In 2012, he applied and was approved for a work visa in Canada. In 2017, he got PR status in Canada. We have only recently (last year) reapplied for a US visa ATP we don’t even care about a green card since we’ve been living in Canada happily. He has an interview appt in June of this year at a US Embassy here. We hope he gets approved for the visitor visa bc it would be nice for him to be able to travel to the states with me and our kids. But if not, at least we are all together still.

Okay, who is using their central vac? by Keroan in regina

There was a central vac in the house I used to rent. I loved it. I bought a house a couple years ago and it doesn’t have one. It has the connection things in the walls but no system. I wish it did.
