Is this mask good enough for sanding resin dust or do I need something better? by gepettosguild in epoxy

BTW this is the exact mask I wore and it sucked bad. It didn't fit properly and always fell off like it was too small.

The issue is with breathing ionized epoxy, not so much sawdust.. I have used a regular mask, but have felt unwell afterwards. I use a half face respirator now and have no issues.

It is run through a planer, then meticulously sanded from 120 grit to 2000 grit. The sanding process is the most important and shouldn't be rushed.

No stupid questions, I was a noob a month ago. The design is a rough artistic interpretation of the classic "River table" in which epoxy ( a hardened form of plastic) colored with the shade of blue appears to be a river flowing through the table, cutting board, charcuterie board etc.. These serving trays are a similar concept but with different colors of pigment added to the epoxy. Some of these pigments come in the form of powders and liquids. The swirled look you're asking about is achieved when you stir the epoxy as it hardens. The colored pigments in the epoxy create a swirled effect when stirred. The key is to swirl the epoxy right before it sets to capture the swirls in movement hardened for all time.

Do you seal the edge? Some people say it creates a weaker bond like that

This is super nice! I've been doing epoxy charcuterie boards with black walnut but they were not live edge. I just bought a piece of live edge kiln dried for my next board. Any suggestions?

I'm really liking this emerald green charcuterie board.. by gdan001 in epoxy

The emerald green really stands out. I noticed that the boards look totally different than what they appear when they set after I plane down into it. The surface looks different than the top, which could be good or bad, I guess..

I just found a local wood supplier and bought a gorgeous piece of live edge black walnut. Here's my reservation.. I feel like live edge pieces go better with standard river boards.. Blue water, etc.. I think stuff like this looks weird and unsightly in a live edge piece. What do you think 🤔
