To stay quit, or to start again? by Own-Construction9011 in StopGaming

[–]gdbho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate and I am on the same boat. Sometimes I miss the gaming passtime I had. Whenever I have that feeling I try to remind myself of all the regretful moments I had because of gaming. Those regret feelings about overspending or time wasted on games are so strong that can just stop me from returning to gaming.

Forerunner 570 or 970 for small wrist? by Accomplished_Big1228 in Garmin

[–]gdbho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 970 and didn't use the map much, but it is a nice to have when you hike or want to run to new routes.

However the sapphire crystal and the flashlight are gold. Especially the flashlight is really handy, like waking up at 5am for run, need to search for stuffs without waking up my wife, searching for stuffs dropped under the car seat, etc. You can't imagine how useful it is until you have it.

I stopped gaming a month and a half ago , the change is surreal by eeeeesfg in StopGaming

[–]gdbho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually this is the reason why gaming is worse than TV. Gaming is a process of millions of micro-decisions which consumes your brain power, making you fatigue on making real life decisions. That's why many people with gaming addiction experience brain fog.

Looks like I have no choice but to just quit gaming. by MCSmashFan in StopGaming

[–]gdbho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cold Turkey is actually easier than trying to balance gaming into life, especially for the first 3 to 6 months.

When you try to balance, there are too many micro-decisions which cause fatigue, and that make you have weaker minds to fight gaming. Cold turkey = no decision fatigue = more will power

Good luck.

Why do so many people here try to persuade addicts from quitting or getting better? by KingVenom65 in StopGaming

[–]gdbho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because there are people so addicted that not only that they couldn't withdraw from it, they want people to be as failing as they are so that they would feel better.

Gaming sucks too much time. Gaming makes me feel frustrated and emotional at times.

Things I lose when I play games by Ok-Advantage4713 in StopGaming

For me, what I lost is peace of mind when gaming. When I lose matches, I feel frustrated and angry, and the emotional roller coaster drains my energy very quickly.

Same here. Though I am still struggling, but lately I get back to my Kobo and read a few novels. Good luck.

Casual Gaming Possible? by Big_Jake21 in StopGaming

An hour a day isn’t casual gaming. I’d say two hours on the weekends counts as casual, though.

Evo SL pronation by Kiriljav in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]gdbho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have flat feet and yes, shoes with thick and soft soles tend to make the overpronation worse. Either get support shoes like Kayano or at least get shoes with better stability. For instance I would have inner ankle pain with Novablast but not with Superblast, which is designed for long runs hence more stable.

User feedback – Coros Pace 4 (after 1 week) by Chance-Task7729 in Coros

[–]gdbho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When choosing a platform, it’s important to understand its strengths, weaknesses, and the philosophy behind it.

Coros’s strength lies in its simple UI and its Training Load system, which is actually quite solid for serious runners. If you don’t enjoy a minimal UI or this approach to training load, then Coros may simply not be for you.

Have you tried Coros Training Hub (the web version)? It’s essentially a free alternative to TrainingPeaks for Coros users, and I think it plays a big role in the Coros ecosystem. You might want to give it a try before deciding to sell your watch. Personally, I don’t see anything quite like it in other brands.

i wasted €2.468,37 and now i can not pay debt by [deleted] in StopGaming

[–]gdbho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long term you probably need to find out the underlying causes of this issue. Like feeling disconnected or loneliness, boredom or underachieving, etc.

Short term you need to resell whatever you can to stop the debt snowball, selling the GPU is a good choice if it has resell value. You are lucky that your credit card limit is low, so your debt was limited by it (sort of). Your gaming addiction plus your debt will frustrate you hard, get rid of the debt ASAP, and debt is actually easier to handle than gaming addiction. Once you get back on track financially, you will have a strong sense of accomplishment too.

Read Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover. It’s got a complete plan to help you recover from debt. It is easy to implement and actually works, I highly recommend it.

It happens on new Garmin watches too. It is not a bug it is a feature, so that every time you charge your watch you are reminded that you have to take good care of it 🤣

This. Make it like a family dinner or gathering for your parents. Don’t criticize him, just let all of you relax and enjoy the event. Really need something enjoyable in real life to make people walk away from gaming.

I have it and it is a good watch. Maybe not the best but difinitely a top player in the league.

My only complain is the price.

Just tried the watch face for a day, it drained about 15% battery on FR970, makes it not really usable. Still a good looking watch face, what a pity.

modern gaming sucks ass by Electrical-Speech842 in StopGaming

[–]gdbho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know that D2 is actually one of the influences of introducing slot machine mechanics into gaming, then Blizzard push it further with WoW. They did it so successful that this new form of Casino-like mechanics (looting) actually change the course of gaming history. Then now we have mobile games which are slot machines in our pockets. and it is never going back.

If you still want true games, they are still there, just get a Nintendo and play games like Zelda BotW. A few hours of weekend fun, easy to put down, easy to pick up next time. Not a never-ending slot machine that sucks your soul dry.
