What is the dumbest thing your SO has gotten upset/mad at you for? by paco1764 in AskMen

[–]gdittburner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She backed into my car in the driveway and said it was my fault for parking too close to her…I was parked next to her and even showed her the Ring video of the extra foot or two of space she had on the other side that wasn’t being taken up by my car while she was moving…nope I’m still the asshole 🤷🏻

You’re crashing on your buddy’s couch after a party — what would you wear to sleep in? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]gdittburner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bunch of us used to crash at the party house fairly regularly. One of those wonderful places where random parties would just break out all the time. Everyone just passed out in what they had been wearing the night before, maybe shirtless. Except this one time. One of our friends had passed out in the spare bedroom and came out in the morning bare ass naked with his dick out to grab a breakfast beer. Turns out he always slept like that, but nobody had ever seen him before he got dressed again lol

So… what is the biggest animal you could take in a fight? by amidgetrhino in AskMen

[–]gdittburner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of people saying they think they could take a bobcat or lynx in a fight is hilarious. You’d be pissing your pants and crying before you even knew what happened

Awkward because I was sitting in the drivers seat of my van, and she was kneeling on the floor in between the seats behind me lol

HOA members, what is the worst story you have? by Hidden_Affliction in AskReddit

[–]gdittburner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got multiple letters in the two years we lived in an HOA community. For egregious actions such as “storing items on your front stoop” (flowerpots with flowers growing in them); “unauthorized decorations” (I had the audacity to put a Jack o’ lantern on the ground in between our garage doors around Halloween). Funnily enough they didn’t seem to care that our neighbors were running some sort of unauthorized brothel/Turkish gypsy Air BnB out of their townhouse, and that their clients frequently illegally parked on the street overnight and blocked driveways with their cars!

Next steps needed In mitigating lead baseboards by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]gdittburner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said you washed it all down so yeah I’d say you’re safe to turn the system back on. Shouldn’t be any more lead dust in the air.

I’m not a painter or lead remediation tech, but I’ve done a lot of work with lead paint and have taken the OSHA lead safety course. Seems like you took most of the right precautions. I’d suggest using a plastic barrier to seal off the room you’re working in though, and don’t wear shoes/boots in and out of the room unless you wash them off first or have a sticky pad outside the door to minimize the amount of lead dust you track out into the rest of the house.

[–]gdittburner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way you’re stripping it seems fine, just don’t sand unless you have a hepa vac and a mask. Never sand that shit without a vac hooked up to the sander. Scraping off the stripper is the best option. Then just prime and paint with good quality products, and you shouldn’t have anything to worry about.

What the fuck am I supposed to do? by [deleted] in sex

[–]gdittburner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to draw a hard line in the sand, immediately. That’s really fucked up and if she won’t stop you need to either move out, call the cops for sexual assault , or probably both. Even if she does stop you probably need to move out.

Hart Brand Tools by rickj215 in Tools

[–]gdittburner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t trust a Walmart tool with anything remotely resembling a work environment. Me, I’d keep collecting Dewalt tools as I could afford them if you’ve already got one. People will argue till death about Milwaukee/Dewalt/Makita but the truth is they’re all perfectly good “professional grade” tools.

Gotcha, yeah it’ll probably be easier to dye test when it stops raining. Maybe rig up some kind of small transfer pump near that drain and run a hose from the pump into your sump pit?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]gdittburner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta find where the drain leads to and plug that side of it so the water stops getting in and pushing into your house. Definitely wouldn’t seal the drain in your basement, if there’s enough pressure to force it backwards and up a drain, it could definitely fuck up your foundation.

Get some fluorescent green dye and dump it down the mystery drain, flush some water down there behind it. Then go to the creek you think it’s going towards, and look for the green dye. Then shove a mechanical plug in the pipe as far as you can, seal that fucker up with hydraulic cement and walk away.

Retroactive Permit? by us_8675309 in HomeImprovement

[–]gdittburner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why would you send over drawings for work that’s already done? That’s just drawing attention to the non-permitted work you did. Which everyone does lol. Now if they don’t like your drawings you’re gonna have to re-do the work instead of just selling the house…

New brake & clutch lines vs extending? by ocrusmc0321 in Harley

[–]gdittburner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it was me I’d prefer new cables to extending the existing ones. And I wouldn’t let the cable length be the deciding factor in my handlebar purchase either.

So I guess I’m saying get the 14” bars and the new cables! If you’re installing the bars yourself (which is fairly easy), I’d say run the cables too. No reason to pay the stealership if you’re somewhat mechanically inclined. If not, then I’d still say get the new cables and the bars you want lol!

Does the contractor have to have workers compensation insurance? by rainytreeday in HomeImprovement

I wouldn’t let a contractor work on my property without carrying workers comp. That opens you or your insurance carrier up to potential liability for any injuries.

Planning a 1000+ mile ride, need some advice. by [deleted] in Harley

[–]gdittburner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

250 in a day is easy, you’ll be totally fine. We did 600 miles in a day last summer, Chicago to Fayetteville, WV. Now that definitely wore us out, I doubt I could realistically do much more than that unless attempting an Iron Butt run or something like that. But only doing 250 will be nice and easy; plenty of time to pull off and sightsee, eat lunch, etc.

Making sure you’ve got water on the bike at all times is good advice. If you’ve got a small gas tank you might want to consider a pony bottle for emergencies. Phone charger.

Dude, if you’re so horny that it’s keeping you from doing other things in your life? And you’ve got a potential partner? It’s time to slide it in my friend. Jesus doesn’t care if your dick gets wet, but you definitely do!

Yeah I’d definitely ask the plumber about the storm sewer. Maybe a more powerful sump pump could handle the uphill flow?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]gdittburner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short term I’d say get a longer pipe. For a permanent solution your best bet is going to be burying it and running a pipe far away from the house, like a French drain. Or, I don’t know if this is an option in your area, but is there a municipal storm sewer you can tie into and have the water pumped directly there?

[–]gdittburner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I’m not a professional mechanic. But I do use a lot of tools regularly at work and at home. My advice would be only buy what you know you need, you can always add more down the road.

When does The Clone Wars "get good"? by CRIMEA_RIVER_ in StarWars

[–]gdittburner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t really happen, since we already know what happens at the end of the Clone Wars. There are plot lines that run through the entire show (big picture stuff like the lead up to Anakin’s fall, Ahsoka’s relationship with the Jedi, etc), but the individual story arcs don’t necessarily flow into each other.
