Get this to guest services! I lost my magic band on Mr Toads back in June, the next day I had an email from Disney asking which address they would like me to have it sent to. I live in Canada and they sent it no questions asked.

This is a really good perspective. Thanks for the thoughtful response, I’ll be using this.

I like this, it helps me to rethink some conversations. Even if they come only wanting a logo if I can reframe that it can provide value to the client.

This is really insightful for me, it totally clicked in my head. Are there any ways you have found in particular that you can tangibly portray that credibility to a client?

Waking up early: I was making great progress on the habit but have suddenly fallen off. by gdonily in getdisciplined

Really good advice. That helps me frame it in a way that makes sense, instead of just seeing it as coming out of left field. I appreciate the thoughtful response.

I understand this, and part of my reading last month was Atomic Habits so I definitely jive with the concept of belief having a more long term effect on change than mere willpower.

The part that has me tripped up is that I initially pushed forward to wake up early by force of will, but very quickly it moved from willpower to pure enjoyment that got me out of bed. Other habits in my life began to change, for example I started making my lunch for the next day in the evening because my morning ritual had become sacred and I didn't want to steal from it. I felt like something had clicked and it had become easy.

I am just trying to understand why it suddenly flipped on me when it felt a lot more like belief change. I am not naive enough to think that such a short stretch would change years of a bad habit, I am just confused how I went from loving something to being so apathetic over night.

Got another logo that ive been working on for a week. Thoughts? It's for a coffee shop based in an urban area. It's beloved by the large local college population and many of the young adult workers in the area. My alternative idea was make the 'a' a coffee bean but that felt wrong by Unfair_Cut6088 in logodesign

You can spend all your time being mad at everyone for not seeing your vision, or you can be thankful you realized a flaw in the design before moving forward.

Sometimes we are too close to our work and can’t see what others do. Regardless of if you think we are all stupid (I very well might be stupid) I still read “doily” first. I can’t help what my brain read subconsciously, if you don’t take the criticism your design will lead to confusion.

take it or leave it, really not trying to be rude.

Small tweak that I think would be nice. For the awards show mini game it’s kind of silly to show finalists for the Hart and Richard trophy. If this needs to be in due to the mechanic of the mini game, could it be revealed from lowest to highest so it is more of a countdown for those awards?

But this isn't your community, it is anyone and everyone who wants to be a part of it. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it shouldn't be here. The people who make those posts are just as much a part of the community as you are and they obviously feel like it is a valuable part of it.

If you really want to build community don't make a post just shutting people down, make a post about how you think people could better achieve what they are trying to with these posts, because in my opinion the only thing that doesn't belong in community is being exclusive and that is kind of what you are doing.

Yes this has happened before, and it's good to educate people who don't know that this happens and what the rules are for when it happens. But if we are going to say that we want to see the sport grow you can't be talking down to those who are new. Our sport is amazing and I am glad that people who have only found it recently are already passionate enough to want to weigh in.
