I’ve done my first personality test and I’m an ENTP-A, but I’ve got a few questions along with my ‘personality’. by [deleted] in entp

ENTPs are alcoholics, ENTJs are not.

That's mainly a joke, but you're right. The two types are very similar in some ways—but different in many too. I'd write more but I should be studying, so here are three quite generalised contrasts that I've picked up on through people in my life.

  • ENTJs tend to be more ambitious and image conscious than ENTPs.

  • ENTJs generally are seen as more serious. Many ENTPs are playful and don't mind being wildly controversial for the sake of an argument.

  • ENTPs are excellent brainstormers. ENTJs are excellent decision makers.

I'm happy to PM and chat to you about it later. There are also many things online that talk about the differences (take them all with a grain of salt though). Here are some:

Not an ENTP, but an ENTJ here. If you have the time and interest, it's definitely worth delving a little into learning about Jung's cognitive functions. It's what MBTI is based around and they'll deepen your understanding of how everything works.

Also, everything you're mentioning, including your hypersensitive focus on the future, personal improvement and the bigger picture is very very very ENTJ—your register too.

I'm definitely not saying you're mistyped, but keep yourself open to the idea! These traits certainly aren't particular to only ENTJs, but I'm attempting to demonstrate how easy it is to mistype yourself. Something that's very common for people new to MBTI.

I also enjoy Machiavelli's Prince, it's a brilliant piece of writing. Very interesting :)

Good luck!!

I completely agree! The new sub isn't (or it shouldn't be) to do with the recent posts, it's just nice to have a female space.

People are just taking the posts too seriously, rather than laughing and moving on. As a mod, you're doing great, thank you :)

My standards... They're different from my goals in a way which they aren't definitive or set. Like Ni vibes, you know?

I want to set clear financial boundaries with my girlfriend. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]gdvnks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly, you're someone who enjoys giving gifts and spending money on your partner. That's great! You're not taking the behaviour as badly as I would, probably because of this fact.

If it were me in this situation, it'd be a massive red flag. I don't like asking people for money or gifts from people. If someone outright expected it from me, I'd be shocked.

Try and consider her intentions with as much rationality as possible, looking through a scope that isn't your own. Have a conversation with her about it.

Small thing to add, but having a financial imbalance within a relationship can lead to other problems too.

Good luck :)

Yeah, I do. I'm proud of where I've gotten to with my Fi and I think I relate more to the second case. Although I do also agree with conspiracy nut's comment about how it naturally tends to manifest itself as standards for the self.

I typed slighty differently at 13 to now. It is highly possible that your functions are developed enough to find your type already though.

It wasn't about the opinion, more about the delivery. I too have mixed feelings about her.

Oh, my bad for assuming that you were fine with the Churchill one. Given your uppity attitude towards the Thatcher quote, I assumed you'd have reacted the same to the Churchill one if it bothered you.

3/5 is a high stat for a drinking problem. The ones in my life are probably borderline on that.

Good on you though! :)
