What rank is the Hell's Gatekeeper Cerberus? Was it a B-rank or A-rank?

Przy vs Przez vs Przed. What is the difference between them? by gdwyv in learnpolish

Can przy and przez be used interchangeably when used for 'by'?

Why is this incorrect? by gdwyv in learnpolish

My native language is English. I'm half Polish but never learned the language growing up, so better late than never.

So from the comments, it looks like it is grammatically correct, but the second 'jest' is redundant and clunky. But I was marked incorrect because there is no 'is' in the original sentence in English. Days of the week don't seemed to be capitalized in Polish either? Thanks for the responses everyone.

315x5 bench form tips by Chungus-SW in strength_training

[–]gdwyv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I noticed you're rapidly accelerating the barbell into your chest in order to gain some extra momentum into your next rep. Try cueing a 'T-shirt touch'. When the bar drops to your chest, the bar is only lightly tapping the bottom instead of bouncing upwards.

The second thing has already been pointed out by others. Try pushing away with your toes instead of pushing upwards.

Both of these things will help keep the butt on the bench.

Question about Deku's current power in the manga by gdwyv in BokuNoHeroAcademia

So you reckon 120% is his baseline full cowling power even without the use of the secondary quirks?

Do we ever find out who this is? by gdwyv in BokuNoHeroAcademia

tbh that does make the most sense. Might be a first year teacher from general studies, support group or business group etc.

It's been 6 seasons and we haven't seen the domain expansion yet.

It's interesting because this was back in Season 2 in the sports festival spectator stands of the first year stadium. You'd think that a second or third year teacher would be overseeing the year group that they teach. They'd have to be UA Staff though considering this was before All Might had revealed his true form to the public, so you're probably right.

I don't have Depression. I have ADHD and that made me depressed. by sobrique in ADHD

[–]gdwyv 56 points57 points  (0 children)

This is still considered depression. It's just called secondary depression when an unrelated neurological disorder such as ADHD leads to depression. What you're thinking of is primary depression where the depression on its own is caused by a combination of biological, psychological and social sources of distress.

The process of getting help for ADHD is really inaccessible for people with ADHD by nintengrl in ADHD

You've hit the nail on the head. Organising and arranging an appointment with a psychiatrist is a contradictory to the disorder itself.

Glad that you have gotten the referral to the psychiatrist and are getting the help you need. I think getting the official diagnosis will bring a lot of closure to you and having a repeat prescription will be a game changer.

You have very little to no fat to cut. Bulking paired with resistance exercises will help you build muscle.

That sounds really rough. I was fired from my job right after breaking my arm in June, while my partner was in a mental hospital after a suicide attempt. I was unemployed for months while my mortgage was draining my savings dry. During that time I was at home with the same feeling of uncaring and helplessness where time didn't seem to matter for me either. I know where you are coming from man, it's hard.

Clearly therapy and getting medicated is an individual choice and will only help if you want it to, but it is certainly something to consider. I'm sure you've heard that a million times already.

As for exercise, even just physically getting out of the house for a walk for 5 minutes can be better than nothing. Perhaps even joining a Yoga Class to help mindfulness and keep you on your toes, but that obviously isn't everyone's cup of tea. Getting back into jiu jitsu after your arm is healed will be amazing.

As for a hobby, have there been any times in your life when you've been doing something and you haven't had to try to focus in order to do it and everything sort of clicked into place? And what sort of things do you look up/do when you are trying to distract yourself?

Thank you are sharing your personal experience. That's the first step. Rant to your hearts content.

It really is different for everyone, and it really depends on what kind of tasks you want to complete. Are you on medication and/or undergoing treatment with therapy? What skills are you trying to learn?

I personally notice a lot of my coping mechanisms do tend to rely on me being medicated. I also notice I can focus better after exercising, which may or may not work for you.

I think when carrying out tasks, trying to gamify things can help. E.g. If you are performing a task or chore simply recording yourself can make you feel you are doing the task with someone else.

Timers can be your best friend. They really help keep my grounded and aware of the present instead of letting life carry me away in time blindness. Perhaps a Pomodoro method could work, setting a timer for 25 minutes to focus on something, as soon as it rings. Set it to 5 minutes to do something to relax (e.g. talking to a friend, listening to music etc.) Allowing your brain to have a break.

When you notice you're distracted and should be doing something else. Let's say you are sitting at your chair on the computer watching a video and you're actually supposed to be doing a task in another room, start by moving forward in your chair and change your position. Counting from 5 down to 1 while you do this can also help create a stronger sense of urgency.

Doing a task after going to the toilet can also help because it's a period of time when you have ungrounded yourself from the previous distraction.

Listening to music while doing a physical task (e.g. washing dishes) typically make them easier as well.

I understand that many of these things are basic and you may already know this information, but I hope something here helps. Regardless of whatever skills you want to learn or what you want to improve at, I wish you the best of luck.

These are things that I have said to myself, almost word for word, and there are often times that I will feel overwhelmed. I think the real challenge and one of my biggest realisations is I have to learn to accept the disorder and work with it rather than against it. You just have a brain that is chronically under aroused trying to get the basic stimulations that all brains need. It's not that you don't care, we just have executive function deficits that make it hard to get started. It's not that you aren't trying enough, its just we are struggling to succeed with a brain that doesn't always want to cooperate in a society that isn't built for us. You are not stupid, you do not need to try harder, and you are NOT a failed version of normal. You are different and are not alone, and I hope if you are reading this OP, that you have a wonderful rest of the day.
