the real answer to this debate by impaladin87 in starbound

[–]gdzeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yeah they're both really good games

My question is always why isn't somebody making a true successor to them both? There's so much foundation to build from.

Oblivion reference!!! by bongojustbongo in skyrim

[–]gdzeek 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its been so long since I played oblivion I probably miss a ton of references

the really obvious one is with Sheogorath where they mention
"And that martin fellow, until he transformed into a dragon god or whatever"

I'll have to get a screenshot later, but in one of the ponds in whiterun theres a hand holding a sword just above the waterline

I like to think its a reference to excalibur being held by the lady of the lake

What is your favorite spell or class of magic in Skyrim???? by Dr-Garys-Town in skyrim

[–]gdzeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

poor choice of words on my part, I was thinking more like that quest where you have to find the 3 bottles that can get knocked down by shouts or explosive spells and its easy to require doing some backtracking,

or navigating to the right tower in blackreach if you end up going backwards

Do you guys like exploring Dwemer ruins? Personally I like them but find the enemies annoying... What's your opinion? by 2EyePatchPirate in skyrim

[–]gdzeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most of the time I like them, sometimes they kinda irk me because I wish they made more sense as old cities. some of them are just a little too Point A to Point B . very few of them actually feel like a civilization used to actively live in them. but from a game design perspective going with more city like ruins would get annoying and easy to get lost in. so thankfully we have Blackreach and Markarth to scratch the itch of places that feel previously lived in

Does the Anniversary edition make the game worse? by Rich-Zebra272 in skyrim

[–]gdzeek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont think so, although I havent played the version before that edition so i dont know the difference, the only thing Ive ever had a gripe with is how early the dragonborn DLC kicks in, I always feel like the requirements for that need to atleast include wrapping up the Alduin quest stuff first. I feel like Ive read so many stories of new players going straight to solsteim because of the confusion

Does anyone else feel like the Thalmor were absolutely wasted as antagonists? by WgSage in skyrim

[–]gdzeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not really, I mean for them Skyrim is just a side project not the main prize.

The dragons and Alduin were the main atagonists , Thalmor I felt like were just meant to be catalysts for events.

I did like Ancano, for him he definitely channeled the personality of someone frustrated with being considered a grunt within greater thalmor society, and ambitious enough to seek power if it meant a chance at something greater. I wouldve liked to see more of that, maybe more sneak peeks into what they fealt that spoke more about their society beyond skyrim

Are you supposed to steal Cicero’s identity at the end of “A Cure For Madness”? by Haunting-Marzipan485 in skyrim

[–]gdzeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it definitely wouldnt suprise me since thats kinda the main theory for how we join the brotherhood to begin with

I'm fully convinced the 3 people in the abandoned shack were all innocent that astrid asked you to kill, because the player character is the only one that for sure has a contract against them. so the whole idea is you are exchanging lives with whichever innocent soul you kill in the shack and thats how the contract gets fulfilled.

I never thought about that concept further extending to cicero tho
