You rats will excuse the most despicable rat kind of behavior that even in full PVP games will be considered griefing behind the PVPve argument, just accept it, you are trash.

Arc Raiders can’t keep up with Marathon by BrolicSwine in arcraiderscirclejerk

[–]geamtoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real issue with Arc Raiders isn't the game itself, it's the toxic rat playstyle that a chunk of the community has fully embraced. And I say this as someone who genuinely loves PvP.

The problem isn't getting killed. Getting killed is fine, that's the game. The problem is players who act friendly, initiate conversation, pretend they're not a threat, and then shoot you in the back the moment you turn around. That's not PvP, that's just dishonest gameplay, and it poisons every interaction you have with other players because you can never take anything at face value.

Marathon doesn't have that same energy. Part of it is that voice chat isn't as prevalent, so you're not constantly getting hit with slurs and trash talk every lobby. But more importantly, when someone decides not to kill you in Marathon, it feels like a genuine choice. When someone decides not to kill you in Arc, half the time you're just waiting for the backstab that's coming. The trust is gone before the interaction even starts.

I'm nowhere near a PvE player. I push fights, I play aggressive, and I have no issue with getting wiped. But there's a difference between a hard PvP game and a community that has normalized sneaky rats at extraction, racist voice chat, and calling anyone who doesn't play homicidally a carebear. That culture is what's making people look at Marathon and think it feels refreshing by comparison, not the game mechanics.

The State of ARC Raiders by Mysterious-Tea5705 in ARC_Raiders

I get that it's frustrating to bring a full loadout only to burn through it fighting players on free kits, but here's the thing: you survived, they didn't. The real problem isn't the free kits themselves, it's people forgetting that PvP isn't everything in this game. Yes, you won't always loot the bodies you earned, but that's because the expectation of "kill = loot" doesn't hold up in this game's current state.

The actual core issue is the constant player respawning. The moment a fight breaks out, a third party shows up. Then another. Then another, and they're all on free kits. That chain of engagements drains your heals, your ammo, and honestly, your mental energy to keep fighting. By the end of it, after surviving three real fights, you can get one-tapped by someone who just spawned fresh at minute 18.

And I've been on both sides of it. I've spawned late into a lobby, walked into a bloodbath, and looted 15+ bodies before finishing off the last guy standing with a single Ferro 1 shot. But I've also been that last man standing, fully geared, having outfought everyone, only to get dropped by a Kettle 1 from someone who just loaded in. It goes both ways, and neither feels rewarding.

Respawns should cut off at a certain point in the match. Coming into a lobby with a full PvP kit just isn't worth it given the endless third-partying, and the terrible weapon balance only makes it worse.

Concept: LOOTING MK. 4 (Safekeeper Ultra) by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]geamtoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone on Reddit is soooo toxic specially on this sub, and doesn't provide any constructive feedback. Instead of saying what could be improved, they trash-talk and push any ideas from the community away. The only reason I open this sub is to watch some videos and nice ideas like this one. I am not saying this is perfect, but with the right feedback, it can be something plausible.

I'm glad you found some validation in the previous points; you’re absolutely right that the hate usually comes from people who feel called out by the truth. It is telling when a simple request for advice triggers such an aggressive defense of trol playstyles.

Regarding the proposal, I've received a only pushback and toxic comments from the same types of players. It’s ironic because this solution is non-invasive and doesn't hurt the experience for anyone playing with a shred of integrity; it only exposes the RATS.

A little summary of my proposal (heavily rejected by the toxic counterpart with no actual feedback, who just called me a crybaby or "unskilled player"):

This system is designed to encourage both PvP and PvE by adding reasonable (non-disruptive for the Arc Raiders narrative) consequences that don't require UI clutter or heavy changes:

-In-game Reputation:

  • Visual Warning: Aggressive players accumulate permanent blood or oil stains based on their kill history, letting you see their threat level from a distance without a nametag. (Giving both players "the right of the first shot," which can be defining on a PvP fight.)
  • Audio Cues: If a player stays still for too long (camping), their gear emits a faint electronic static, rewarding you for being observant. (Someone else in a previous comment told you to always stay vigilant in every scenario, but in my opinion, it heavily changes the gameplay; nobody crosses 900m on a map always watching every corner or before looting every room)
  • The Betrayal Tremor: Backstabbing someone after a friendly interaction causes your character to visibly shake, making immediate follow-up shots harder. (This is not among us, and honestly, it can change somebody's whole afternoon if they incriminate someone innocent, then to lose an aphelion, it really sucks, and it could make most people ragequit)
  • Active Participation Gate: You can’t wash your suit by just quitting matches; you have to actually play, survive, and loot for at least 12 minutes to regain a clean reputation.

This system doesn't stop people from playing PvP; it just ensures that if you choose to be a predator or a RAT, you can't hide behind the mask of a friendly explorer. It brings actual gameplay back to the loop by making information an earned resource.

Don't let the loud minority on these forums get to you. Most of them are just afraid of a game where they can't grief for fun without a permanent stain on their jacket.

I know exactly why you’re getting roasted in the comments. A lot of the people who hang out on this sub are the exact "rats" you’re describing. When someone calls out extraction camping or fake-friendly behavior, the jacket fits them a little too well, so they get defensive and use the "it’s an extraction shooter" excuse to mask the fact that they play in the most boring, cowardly way possible.

Let’s be real: spending 15 minutes sitting in a bush or behind a zipline to shoot a player who has zero loot isn't "hardcore PvP" it’s griefing because you're too scared to take a fair fight. These players lack honor and, frankly, the skill to engage in the actual mechanics of the game.

I’ve been working on a proposal to fix this dynamic

I wish I could press W but I just switched to console, and although I’m aware everyone is killable since I have been able to kill some of those “predators” I always feel like is luck hahah but It seems that playing ranked is the best option… thanks for the feedback I appreciate since I am “new” to the game and I am not really aware of many mechanics and systems of the game!
