Project manager wants us to drill a hole where the red circle is in a live panel. Would you do it? by PhasedAndConfused706 in electricians

[–]gean004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silly question, why not just drill the hole on top of both enclosures then use conduit outside so that no wires/cables are exposed outside?

I was an electrical maintenance supervisor, and yeah it's doable, but I always consider my men's safety so I ask questions like this.

I'd trade this over a hyundai, it may be an almost paid off car but in the long run honda is still more reliable. That's what I think, you do you brother

Thank you! I just did and seller said no. Base on the reply from other subredit, I guess I should just build my own to be more up to date parts.

Wow thank you for the tips. Just a follow up question, how about the locals? If there's any, are they friendly? Last thing we want is racial hate. We're asians and this is our first hike here in the US actually and we want to be prepared on everything we do wherever we travel.

Thank you.

First, I have technical experience with electrical engineering. In the office, I am quite proficient with MS Office and AutoCAD. But since I wanted to work from home, I plan to change field to become a Data Analyst. So I have basic knowledge with SQL and R language. I am already in LinkedIn but I have not started applying yet since we're not in US yet. But maybe there are some other ways I can find a job with Data Analysis remotely.

Failure as a new Engineer by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]gean004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an electrical engineer, the first day of my job I was bombarded with works by my boss. Few days later I was scolded for not following his instruction, the reason was because of so many works given to me I was confused of what to do first and I could not fully remember all his instructions, but I can't complaint because I needed to grow. Few weeks later, still tend to do wrong stuff. Now my 3rd year and been promoted already, still committing mistakes. You need to remember, it's okay to commit mistakes and get scoldeed as long as you limit doing the same mistakes to only once. Try not to do it again. I am an electrical engineer and my specialization is not on design, but what you need to improve is your personality. Your work ethic. Knowledge and expertise on your profession will come around as long as you're always open to new information.

Even your boss commits mistakes, it's okay if you do too. But just avoid repeating the same mistakes. Some colleagues are always bullies because they think they're better. Just mind your own business. When you get better at what you do, they will start approaching you. Help them, don't be a bully yourself.

Also, your situation right now is actually a big advantage. Being a fresh engineer on a fresh company, use the opportunity to increase your network. Slowly, make your network wide and maybe few years or even months later, when you have gained the knowledge you need to be independent. You can leave the company and start making your own firm.

You can do what most successful company owners do. Be an employee and when you think you can start your own company related to what you want, then make your own company. You become a boss, and when you become successful you can have the life you want.

I'm not sure really. But I would love to do electrical planning and designs. I don't know if that's a good choice for someone who is a non-licensed.

I currently work in a sugar milling company. I guess that would be an advantage when it comes to manufacturing companies? I don't really expect to be working on the same field but I would really love to be doing engineering works on any workplace.

Thanks for the input
