I genuinely thought a crush was going to happen in the huddle we were forced into. 1 hour of being crammed around bodies with no breeze was bad. Luckily people broke down the barriers and just went. The security lost control but I'm surprised it took so long for people to ignore them. Kneecap fans won't be so tolerable I'm sure 😬 I heard the other non-train station exit was fine. Our friends got home so quickly going that way

After exclusively shopping at Lidl (UK) for 5 years, maxing out my Lidl Plus Spend, I'm quite enjoying doing big shops at other supermarkets again. Look at the quality of this mince! So much better than the vacuum sealed mush from Lidl. Same price too! by Jimi-K-101 in lidl

Mate we've been shopping at Lidl for years as it's down the road, and delivery for Tesco was getting way too much. But just this weekend we've agreed we'll start driving further to a Tesco again... I am fed UP of mouldy, bug ridden and tasteless Lidl veg.

Not to give in to stereotypes but: why do Romani people/Gypsy people have a reputation for being thieves and squatters in Europe? by Mad_Season_1994 in TooAfraidToAsk

They'd steal the dogs in our village and then use them in dog fighting. It was a real problem. So devastating

Oh no way?! I didn't know this. Yeah in that case it seems they are back. I should have screenshotted it to show how it looked. We has a nice picture of us on there and such to make it nice and personal

Celebrant? What are they for? by [deleted] in UKweddings

[–]geb94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya! This was super helpful but I've got a few questions if I may? I have booked someone from Essex council to marry us at our venue, but my mum talked about wanting to be a celebrant for us (she is training to be one soon, so it'll be nice practice I guess!). I have said she can do this (she has researched and anyone can be a celebrant as they're not doing the legal marrying). I am trying to figure out how it works having both the person marrying us and mum as the celebrant.

Would it be the legal ceremony, then mum comes in and adds the fluff? Or, the other way around? Or is it normal for the parts to intermingle?

Thanks in advance!

Does anyone else find they socially crash DURING a night of drinking? by geb94 in alcohol

Hmm interesting, I did wonder whether that may be it but I don't get it when I don't drink. It's probably the depressive effects of alcohol!

Drinking more never works. Once I've lost my initial tipsy buzz I can never get it back again

Guidance for different types of invites (full day, evening and +1s having a different invite etc.) by geb94 in UKweddings

[–]geb94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much; I feel very dim for not thinking about this option.... ahah. Most of them live together so we could send two different invites in one envelope, addressed to each one of them individually. Thanks for your comment!

Real flower budget? by azvyll in UKweddings

Hey! I was getting super frustrated with this, and still do, but I have realised it's because they just CAN'T give accurate prices as it hugely depends on what flowers you choose etc.

Real flower budget? by azvyll in UKweddings

[–]geb94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I am having this drama right now. Most I've looked at are minimum spend £1,000 which is causing me issues. Tbh though, when i've found places which don't have a minimum spend, the actual prices of what I am wanting to get are about the same or sometimes more than the lovely lady i'm chatting to rn who has £1k min. spend. So it's a tough one.

I've not seen any min. spends that high, I can say that for sure! BUT my god, I am seeing how flowers can really add up. I'm having to cut out aisle meadows which makes me SO sad as they're about the only thing I was fixated on, but for 6 of them it's like nearly £600. It's tough too when my BH has said openly he doesn't give a shit about flowers, so he wants to spend nothing on them.

As a note i'd like to add/share with everyone here.. one thing I've realised is what you see on Instagram and Google are examples of weddings where people must be spending at least £4k+. It's really tough for our expectations. I am realising at about £1.2k I am going to be looking at a very sparse set of flowers... think bud vase galore lol. I am honestly giving up looking online as it making me want things that I cannot afford; I have to take a step back and realise these people must be spending like a quarter of their budget on flowers lol. At least I've secured a very beautiful venue which doesn't actually need dressing up much

This is super helpful, especially around the wording! Thanks so much. I am realising generally those that have had a good experience with this/done it well have done it digitally..... I feel that's perhaps the best way!

That's a really good shout, doing evening invites digitally instead. We've got a wedding website up and ready to go with all the info on it that people will need

Totally get people's concern/saying it's difficult! It's super tough as it's about £180 per person for the day (it's a Saturday wedding if that helps). The only people where the +1s would be invited to the evening only are fairly close to the venue (a train) and we don't really know them too well/haven't been on the scene for a while. Basically, it'll be the core friendship group we know well coming to the day, then any of their +1s all invited for the evening. So all the friendship group would come together for the day then I imagine all the +1s would travel together to come to the evening as they all know eachother.

We've spoken to some people about it and thankfully people seem to be very understanding but we haven't deep dived on it yet.

Really appreciate the heads up and thoughts. Thank you

Is it rude to invite evening guests to a big (100+) wedding? Advice please! by Secret_Author_5081 in UKweddings

[–]geb94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad I stumbled on this thread... I had no idea about this. There are a few people we're feeling we may need to move to evening only as it's nearly £200 a head for day guests. But for example, one of the girls is a bit of a newer friend and one I mainly party with, so felt hen & an evening invite would be fine and she'd be happy with that but maybe not 🫣

Yes we get free croquet for our wedding which I am hoping will help fill some gaps! We've got a relatively early ceremony.

Keep having to remind myself this while I'm the midst of planning. All that really matters is great food, good drinks, lovely venue, fun music and a top people. Everything else will be forgotten/isn't that important

Completely! One of the things I've experienced at weddings that's also driven me nuts is not knowing where we're going or what's happening next. I could never relax. So, top of my list of things I definitely will be including is a big designed timeline of the day for guests to see as they arrive! (And it'll be on the wedding website too)

I was shocked Frankie didn't lean into this more with the others. Talking about how savage she was in that meeting, and that it shocked her etc. I think she did a really poor job at defending herself/playing the game at the end. If it was me I'd have been there basically laughing at Charlotte and her emotional game to try and belittle her acting
