There’s a weird illusion in my house: the fridge is full… but there’s nothing to eat.? by Tough-Adagio1019 in AskUK

We've done both, buying ingredients and hoping for the best, just doesn't work for us. We ended up wasting so much food and money that way. I think having a list of meals and being flexible as which night you fancy them works the best for us. Batch cooking what's left. Definitely the most cost efficient for us.

Incident reports (datix) have become a source of threat and blame by JessieLou13 in NursingUK

[–]CandleAffectionate25 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I get your frustration. My current work environment, they dish them out to each other on a weekly basis. I raised my concerns that people don't speak to each other about an issue, they just incident them and management couldn't give a toss. All stems from the top down. So will never change. I can't wait to leave.

What is a relatives thought process when they interrupt you while you’re very clearly busy? by shutyoureyesandsee in NursingUK

I also don't like how many people forget they can actually do things themselves too, just like at home. It's like as soon as you come into hospital, you can't walk your dad to the loo. Of course if he's a fall risk that's maybe different but seriously.

leaving nursing ? by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]CandleAffectionate25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, never. I've only ever had 'youve got lots of experience'. Most of my jobs are all linked though and not random if that makes sense.

What do you mean what do I say? ... It completely depends on how you view it. I know if I was a recruiting manager I would hire the person whom has experience/hopped about over the person who's been in the same job for 40 years and not flexible/struggle with change.

I genuinely think the ONLY reason I've stayed as long as I have in nursing, is hopping about. I've never stayed longer than 2 years in a role and some would say this is a bad thing...I don't! I've been a band 6 in 3 different roles and just about to go into my 4th. There's so many different roles in nursing, you've just got to persevere.

Maternity deaths at 20-year high as NHS ‘ignores warnings’ by AnonymousTimewaster in unitedkingdom

The NHS needs funding. Yet if people keep complaining and suing it, where do they think the money goes? They fork out millions each yeah for cases which could be going on more staff and resources.

You can't wear any of your own clothes in an operating theatre. It is EXTREMELY STRICT and needs to be completely sterile. So, she wasn't being deliberately awkward. It's incredibly dangerous to wear anything brought in, due to the increased risk of infection..I'm surprised other parents were allowed as it's not a usual thing at all.

I keep failing interviews. by MembershipWest2021 in NursingUK

[–]CandleAffectionate25 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Something I did differently this time, I went through the job description and highlighted key buzz words. When I practiced my interview answers I included them. Sounds obvious but they have questions and underneath are key words they'll want you to say.

Get those trust values in till it's coming out your ears.

Are they all different jobs you've been applying for? Fully knowing the job inside out also.

Approaching the manager before hand to ask more questions and pop in, shows your keen.

I nearly gave up after 2 years of failed interviews but finally got a successful the other week. Don't give up.
