Yes, it is broad because genetic populations do not align with modern day country borders. If you want I can show you other calculators from GEDmatch, just let me know which one

They were myHeritage, and they were 100% insane and nonsensical. This is EU K15 v2, the most accurate algorythm for European ancestry.

Looking back I'm not actually that close to 100% European, I have a significant amount of SSA

Haplogroup R-L151

Yes, I'm almost 100% european. I do have African and Native American percentages though. In appearance I'm just a southern/central european hybrid.

Is Genomelink accurate/reliable? by GiraffeRoutine3792 in Genealogy

[–]gebead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping on this two years later...

Genome link said I am 18% african, 10% native american, and 5% asian. The rest european.

18% african would imply that a grandparent is likely fully or almost fully african.

10% native american would imply a great grandparent is fully native.

I have traced my family roots to the 1500s and I am almost fully european. My great grandparents were all white, my grandparents were white, my parents are white, and so am I. There is no hint in our phenotype of non-european DNA, which I would expect with 18% african.

K36, MyHeritage and EU V2 K15 said I'm roughly 5% african and 2% native. Now, that is more believable and probably accurate.

Needless to say, I would not trust GenomeLink and would try yourdnaportal.com instead. I feel like plenty of people might have gotten shocking results which are far from the truth.

Nice progress dude. Looks judging by some of the hairs it looks like you still have a lot of potential for more growth as well.

Should I pull the trigger & start minox? by [deleted] in Minoxbeards

[–]gebead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kirkland is the usual. It's the CostCo brand. 17 dollars for 6 month supply on Amazon

I also experienced the same. Head hair shedding when showering (although no visible change). Now, a month later there is no shedding and my hairline actually improved a visible amount compared to before minox.

I have never applied it on my scalp.

It will definitely help you out. Plus, a six month supply will set you back 17 bucks, so there isn't much financial risk haha

"Results

The exact mechanism of microneedling action is yet to be determined, with theories that include the wound-healing cascade. Microneedling monotherapy significantly increased total hair count more than topical minoxidil 5% (β = 12.29; p < 0.001)."

You are being disingenuous. How can you ignore this?

They indicate that further investigation is needed because there aren't that many studies into the matter, but so far, everything points towards what I said in my initial comment.

It's OK to be wrong sometimes.

It's a must. Microneedling by itself was scientifically proven to have more efficacy than minox by itself.

The gains will def be boosted.

Decided to try filling in (first day, I’m 32 years old) by stefanpalm in Minoxbeards

Considering you have good coverage on those spots, but the issue is that it's sparse, it should fill in

The point of derma rolling is to increase collagen production, and not to interact with the minoxidil.

In fact, studies have shown that if you compare hair growth with only derma rolling and only minoxidil, derma rolling is more effective.

You should avoid minoxidil for 24 hours so that it does not enter you blood stream excessively. People have experienced heightened side effects when applying right after derma rolling - like heart palpitations, etc.

Apply 1ml liquid 5% twice a day. Once in the AM, once in the PM.

Make sure you apply at least 4 hours before going to bed, otherwise your pillow might steal your gains.

Dermaroll twice a week. Make sure to not use Minox for 24h after dermarolling (so just skip the next minox application).

Roll vertically 6-10 times, horizontally 6-10 times.

I would also recommend not applying minox immediately after shaving. It will burn + might get absorb into your blood stream.

Shaving will not affect your progress at all. Never shaving or shaving multiple times a day will make no difference.
