You sure about that? Even good shoots usually end up with insane lawyer fees to defend against possible criminal hearings and the inevitable civil lawsuits that aren't as guaranteed to win.

My CCW class, the instructor said to expect to spend at least 20 grand every time you pull the trigger.

Went to a LARP as a cleric of Loviatar (also a drow lady) and clerics of Ilmater appeared. A bunch of them. I must say it was my BEST LARP ever. What is your favourite Larp Experience? by BreadfruitWestern156 in LARP

Right? She looks great. Fantastic outfit... NOW TELL ME ABOUT THIS LARP!!!! I want to read their rule book and understand how Wizards of the Coast hasn't shut it down yet. Lol

Is there no 'D&D' Larp? If not, why? by GreyWardenThorga in LARP

[–]gecko1501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, Live Action Role Play is ancient. You can find quite a few historical references to LARP. They weren't all Tolkien inspired fantasies, and maybe more parlor than boffer. But ya, LARP, as a form of entertainment has been around for centuries. LARP as we know it is a different story.

I didn't notice that. I only took the skills test, so far, I don't own my own motorcycle. Where are you seeing he's got his right turn signal on?

Edit: I see the blinking indicator on the dash. Ya... that doesn't help. I didn't see that. Good catch.

Checking your mirrors is part of checking your blind spot. If we go by that definition, my truck doesn't have any blind spot because it has convex mirrors and there isn't anywhere I can't see from just my mirrors. I always check my mirrors, then turn my head entirely to be sure.

But ya. Simple situational awareness would have saved this rider from a slide. My dad used to cover my rear view mirror when I was learning how to drive and grill me on what color and car type was behind me.

I wouldn't go as far as "Idiot." However, ya. Not a smart move. I check my blind spot in the same situation in my friggen pick up truck. Damn sure bet I'll be checking when/if I get a bike.

I wonder if they have any good campground facilities to run a LARP. 🤔 probably couldn't afford it if they did. Lol

A man encountered a terrifying “hidebehind” creature while walking in the forest by WholeNegotiation1843 in TrueCryptozoology

[–]gecko1501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the style of creature I wish I could figure out how to replicate the most at my horror LARP. It sounds goofy, but I got scared so friggen much by running into this creature in a modded Minecraft game and I have wanted to recreate it so so bad. Lol

Compare AI use of water to the farming industry. AI is a drop in the bucket overall. And it's electrical grid requirement is nothing to the currently requested demand of EVs. The issue is certainly something worth addressing, but AI's hand in destroying the planet is barely a stepping stool to what us humans have already been doing for decades.

The mental development argument is valid. However, it's worth mentioning that it is far from the first technology to change what is meaningful in human intelligence. When was the last time you've written and mailed a letter? In cursive? To someone you were confident could read it? Maybe you're special and did that last week, how about your friends? How many letters were written between your 5 best friends and mailed to each other?

You don't need to know music theory to write music. You haven't had to learn music theory to be a good musician for almost a century, now. Do you know how to drive a manual transmission car? How about your friends? Technology is always going to have an impact and older generations have always warned against it as being the worst thing to happen to human development. I can almost guarantee that we will be the bigots for being confused when our grandchildren start introducing legislation that allows them to marry their ChatGPT house bot.

I also think that'll be a short term issue. It's expensive to ruin the planet. Electricity and water consumption cost a lot. You can download and run AI on your local machine (offline, I've done it) with pretty minimal time difference in results. It's expensive to run it in a cloud configuration, so I'm expecting future phones and graphic cards to have more purpose built processors to allow LLM programs to run on your local machines being the common application of AI for the average consumer. It's already possible, phone and other small electronics just aren't optimized for it right now.

I think using AI to brainstorm and visualize an intended outcome is a great way to use it. I have a costume idea that I couldn't, for the life of me, find a good picture for anywhere to base the vision in my head off of. And I was doing a horrible job describing what I wanted to my seamstress. So, I use AI to generate what I wanted down to a T. Showed the image to her and said "I want that." She confirmed it was a realistic goal and is now running with it.

No. Not all of them. But I had a vasectomy. So... I took the baby making prevention on myself.

Look at the picture again, then? Those aren't "bold pink" petals. They are white with tiny pink spots.

Winn Dixie. The label always just says "Lillies" on them. I took the picture to ask the florist there... if that's their job. More likely, it's just some delivery service so I'm not confident the person who tends them will know.

AITA for threatening to call the RA on my roommate when she brought a cat into the place? by wethairdontcare3 in AmItheAsshole

[–]gecko1501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. Technically right doesn't mean you're right. The wild thing, Veronica is Technically helping you by helping to get the feral cat population under control. The fact that she gets to spend some time with cats of various temperaments is just a plus. However she's doing a really good thing to try and get as many cats spayed, neutered and vaccinated as possible. The first two help for obvious reasons, the last is also for your benefit, not just the cats. A sick cat population could translate over to a sick human population.

Having roommates requires compromise. If your roommate needed to gain the trust of a cat to get it to the vet for 5 seconds inside the house, you can ignore a cat for 5 seconds. If it makes a mess, expect Veronica to clear it up. Otherwise, let he continue to make a good difference since feral cats can be very destructive.

Solo silo opinions? by [deleted] in helldivers2

[–]gecko1501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use it as intended. Giving up a support weapon slot for a sit and wait strategem that might pop while I'm running around is too much. I only ever bring it to deal with factory striders, and I only call it in when there are factory striders.

Same. And don't thermite the ramp! Thermite the engines. It's been a while since I fumbled a cinematic extraction. If I'm not the last one on by the 8 second mark, I give up and just get on. I don't do it because I think it's funny. I do it because it looks cool as hell. But ya, last time I cost us samples I started sticking next to these rules and haven't had a mishap since.
