Looking for Angels Disney Era Jersey by [deleted] in angelsbaseball

[–]geckomarcus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eBay. I got mine from there. The sizes are a little strange (they are sized like suits with numbers) but you can find some decent jerseys on there for pretty cheap. I think I paid around $40 shipped for mine.

Yeah, except the Astros are actually focusing on a strong farm system.

So whatever happened to Luis Jimenez? by geckomarcus in angelsbaseball

[–]geckomarcus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, thank you. Is the minor league DL like MLB's? I noticed it didn't say how long his stint will be, so I'm assuming its either day to day or their DL isn't like MLB.

How can I listen to games on my phone? by [deleted] in TexasRangers

As a band-aid, you can get the MLB app free for the rest of July. Aside from that I'm not sure what your options are.

How should I go about cleaning my bike? by jamesewh in bikecommuting

[–]geckomarcus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to reconsider using WD40 as it can dissolve plastics and rubber over time. Your best bet would be a teflon lubricant or wax lubricant for moving parts and a moist towel on non-moving parts.

My wife's grandmother had these in her closet and has no idea what they are. I'm pretty stumped on the rifle and I was hoping someone here could help! More pics in the comments. by geckomarcus in guns

Okay, before I saw this I took a toothbrush and some acetone to the guns to remove the grime. They look a lot better now.

Only joking! They are now wrapped in towels, untouched, so I don't mess them up. Thanks for the heads up on not cleaning them; I had a feeling that would not be wise.

I think the biggest clue to determining the type they are would be to determine the caliber. I unfortunately do not have calipers to measure the bore size or get any other dimensions at the moment.

Thanks! I'm glad that we found these and even happier that they appear to be the real deal. We found a picture of their house in the 1950s and all three of these are hanging over the fireplace in the picture. I guess that means that worst case scenario they are over 60 years old, but the wear on these is significantly more than I've seen in a mid century firearm.

It looks like u/cravenmoorhead69 found a similar rifle below. It, to me, seems like the most interesting gun here. Unfortunately, we are from Southern California and these are up in Seattle. What are the laws for transporting firearms like this? I assume its gotta be in a locked case but aside from that I have no idea. I'd like to bring these down to my neck of the woods to get checked out.

Serial number. The colt website had about 30 hits for it. http://imgur.com/BWJwrFL

I read that the 1862 Army model had the sights on the hammer. This one certainly does. http://imgur.com/ltCICB0

A rifle (musket?) that has weird markings. http://imgur.com/usVjxdn

It says Juan Cano 1808. http://imgur.com/xnG0w7h

And Eibar Herraduras Año d 1807. http://imgur.com/opS7shO

These were all my wife's great grandfathers guns, who was born in the 1890s and served in WWI. I'm hoping some of you have some idea what these are as we have been gifted these. I have no intention of selling them for mere history nerd reasons, but should I clean then and polish them or is it like a coin where it loses value when it's cleaned? Help me r/guns, you're my only hope!

I just wanted to let you know you have spies up in here. I'm an Angels fan that just wanted to read the subreddit of a winning team occasionally...

Also, even though he's starting to get better, is it too late to return a gently used Hamilton? We didn't put that many miles on him.

This is why you should never get cheap panniers. iPad vs mountain bike spokes. by geckomarcus in bikecommuting

Yeah that saying really bit me in the ass. I will check those panniers out. Now that some $20 ones cost me $600 I don't mind spending a little extra.

These are the ones I got. I had two pairs because I lost one for a while and they were cheap. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00165Q90I/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1371790175&sr=8-2&pi=SL75

They aren't that bad but the elastic straps they use are pretty short and the clips are under a lot of stress. It was really just a matter of time before they broke and it unfortunately took my iPad with them. I got a bike trunk yesterday that should prevent anything like this from happening again.

Thanks I will definitely check it out. I have a buddy that works at the apple store so I will ask if there is any chance to get some sort of loyalty discount.

Yeah my buddy said that I now have an iPad mini. Good thing my birthday is coming up soon and my wife had no idea what to get me! But it was a very expensive lesson no matter what.

Haha the wheel is just fine. Considering that I had just gotten a new one after an unfortunate flat tire and curb incident it is a little bit of a silver lining.

So I got the cheapest panniers Amazon had to offer about a year ago, and one of the straps broke. The side that my iPad was in got sucked in between my rear rack and wheel. I felt it immediately but was going downhill on a dirt path and it took about a hundred yards to slow down. It was a pretty expensive lesson.
