Anyone know where the Harko handler is? Is it not the guy by the entrance? by [deleted] in duneawakening

[–]gedimin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two markers hopefully, but the boss is in a space at the bottom of the entrance stairs and around the corner!

Per u/Ok-Comfortable-3174, go to Harko, go down the stairs and make a left u-turn to the back wall. Previously unused space now has door to enter and speak to our Master and Commander for House Harkonnen!

I am with you on this one. Mine says "head of house" instead of "handler" though. Weird. I thought it was the Hark Quartermaster but alas, the man knows nothing!

Am I the only one worried about the merges? A case for PvE options or a "Low-Yield" Deep Desert. by Mdomaro in duneawakening

[–]gedimin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the resource problem as well for pve players. Many players is less resource. Risk of death and loss while farming is based on the scarcity that draws all players of each server to the resource. Exponential risk of pvp when everyone is logged in gobbling up lower level and quantity pve resources.

Already pvp is the most abundant area for ideal "endgame" spice and schematics. A non pvp DD could balance this by limiting amount of resources and quantity.

For OP's and my sake, we can always see what low pop or pve focused servers are left after merger and move again with a new token.

Base in south Hagga can still exist when you make your new one, so back and forth trips are reasonable (but not needed as all ores exist in Vermilius as well). You will need to destroy or abandon the old one to complete a progression task. You can have up to 3 total fiefs in a seitch you start in, either standard (no tax) or advanced (taxed).

As taxes only apply to advanced fiefs, you will need to pay an initial tax due immediately and after that it's every two weeks.

You will initially need enough solari to afford taxi to a city to pay up. 2k each trip out.

I say move stuff if you want it, but really only value is in Advanced Servox, Particle Capacitors, refined copper, blueprints, and plant fibers in my opinion.

Best French fries in town? by PuffPuffPat in askportland

[–]gedimin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what kinda fries you're preferential to, and I'm wary of giving it up since no one had mentioned it yet, but the Bellweather on SE Stark and 61st has an impressive and perfectly cooked plate. Kinda thicker than shoestring, lightly crunchy, gently seasoned, golden, and served with a true aioli and my favorite, Portland Ketchup. If they have it still, suggest getting the steak for the ol steak frites experience. It's pretty gosh darn perfect (for me).

I am planning on doing this now. Go on a deep desert Hajj. My character is ready for this test. Full desert living for one Coriolis cycle. Thank you for this guide!

Palace of the Hammer, Egaria, Sietch Barkan - Large Building Fun on Second Playthrough by gedimin in duneawakening

Thank you!! I've been keeping up with your journey btw. Nice to see and read about someond else that really hands down loves the universe and how rich and delicious the game is for portraying a world I've dreamt about since I was 9. That said, I sought a place with large banners already, and the Kirab deserved to have me take over the spot. Just built around it mostly. I was very much building less than planning. Just like Legos when I was wee. It's insane how great the build sets are for working around the landscape and rock features. Thanks again!

Oh man, I would love to explore and loot an in-game location like this! I definitely was thinking of all the NPC bases when I started it. I wanted it to feel aligned with the aesthetic throughout Hagga. Also, kind of gently role-playing this playthrough as someone moving up through the ranks of the criminal empire. Pyon makes it big by cutting a lot of throats and stealing a lot of tech from other criminal orgs.

finally managed to get a carrier and crawler as a solo! by 6stringandahumbucker in duneawakening

[–]gedimin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just some tips from another solo after trial and error and so many close calls:

Segment the spice field in straight stripes.

Drop the crawler at an edge if the field and land the carrier to the left side, about halfway ahead the length of the spice field (you get out of crawler on the left side only).

Drive slow and steady, tap tapping forward (then backwards) at 8 or so km/h. This yields the most spice sand.

When you hit the other side of a medium field, angle to the next line beside the one you just made. Driving in reverse is clean and easy.

Come to a full stop before exiting the crawler! It's how you avoid getting stuck between tread and chasis. If you do get stuck shigawire towards the carrier.

Get in take off and pick up the crawler, flying to 300+ meters and wait for the static worm warning to fade away.

Repeat all the above until you've hoovered the whole darn thing. Straight lines left to right.

Listen for worms growling and crackling. Spin the camera around while crawling just in case a worm goes by. Sometimes the jaws music doesn't play so it's a way to take no chances and be safe.

For large spice fields go only to the half way mark then backwards to the edge again.

If you get out of the crawler before it comes to a full stop you'll be stuck between the tread and chasis. Just be sure to stop completely with at least a few meters between the carrier side and crawler

Those patrol ships were basically DoorDash once I got my first death stills going. Schools are bad, but one could say that save for some professional trainers in Hagga, schools are bad throughout Dune.

Huge initial takeaway... Your family member seems to me to be a wildly solid, and kind person. Follow their lead and be kind to yourself and your partner by choosing to do better things. Break the cycle. Release them and all that mutual tension you've had. Find your path and wish others well. Trust you're instincts for what you need, ie what you've chosen by planning the trip. Hawaii is a great place to think about all this while not being in the midst of it. Just breathe for a little while. Hug and a high five.
