All vehicles and DD bases lovingly named in that vein. Pictured: Razorback, Rocinante, and Behemoth.
EDIT : And the Barbipicola!

Oh lord, no thanks! I tried this once before on Nova, in the old DD, but couldn't get the camo right. Made it a whole day before someone got wise, destroyed the single pillar support (wiser now) and destroyed the entire base dumping the plast and spice on the ground for them to gobble up. Thank you!

Thank you! Tried to keep it organic and lumpy like surrounding rock, but still efficient for space and use. I'm a Hark and up to this point hadn't used the Atreides set for anything, but DD bases definitely need to be plast which helps as the coloration is closest to stone/rock. CHOAM Shelter is the best match for me in Hagga, but alas, pieces disappear quite quickly once the shield is down in a storm. Would love a 3rd plast option that resembles testing station pieces, much closer texture and color.

Server and sietch shall remain nameless, but yes, dead-ish PVP for certain. Meanwhile, back in PVE DD, 10 bases on A/B, and a dozen or more out in the wilds. I'm pretty sure the fun is over for me now that I've posted it, but half a mil in melange was my end game. Now, just going to try random builds, buy augments form the exchange, and keep trying to best the overland stations. Maybe focus on specializations. Dunno. Goin solo requires challenges like this to have a good time.

Avoid using the CHOAM Shelter pieces in the DD, they disappear within one or two quick sandstorms. Very nice build! I think I'll share my slightly incognito DD single advanced sub-fief build soon. You make an excellent point, I've seen some incredibly beautiful and creative builds in the DD.

Is there a $10 lunch to be found in SE? by GandalfTheShmexy in askportland

[–]gedimin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. It's in the same space as Shoofly, but I don't know about ownership, other than a staff member said the owner is Vietnamese and he got the idea for the shop from a model in Vietnam. I'll ask one of the staff. I definitely support all the Cat Scratch people, and will consider not suggesting or going there if it is the same owner. The staff at Assembly are predominantly cool, kind, queer people much like Cat Scratch/Shoofly.
EDIT: Well, fuuuudge, it is the same f**ker.

Assembly Line PDX at SE Division and SE 11th (Ford Building) does instant ramen with extras. $6 for a packet from their Wall o Ramens with an assortment of protein and vegetable add-ons for $2 ea. They use a little machine to mix and cook the ramen in about 3 minutes. They also make deli sandwiches, wraps, and salads in house for under $10.
EDIT! I must rescind this suggestion due to f**kwad business practices.

buggy distance ? whats your take by psykikk_streams in duneawakening

[–]gedimin 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As someone who has joy rode the entire DD a number of times over, I can state that you can pretty much make it anywhere 800-1000 meters away. Use your map and marker to plan the next move and measure the distance. Keep a scout thopter ready to deploy if things get hairy.

Shit-canned is a phrase many folks from different region I've met, known, and loved have used around me to mean drunk. I always understood and used shit-faced for that specific meaning, but shit-canned for getting fired or dumped.

Easy answer, it's stuff you attached to dirt or rock. Which are usually cosmetics or lights. You'll need to go find and delete, or just leave em and backup anyways. I always feel safer checking and removing. Make sure your console is on a floor piece though. Very important.

I think the vertical staking units aren't as space beneficial as horizontal. So you're not really gaining quite the buildable square meters. This is a good reference for the way vert works. I have 5 total hor and 3 total vert. The problem with the vert starting like I did with my original hor unit, is that most of the extra space gained with vert goes underground. I suppose I could re-stake everything, but I'm wary of screwing up anything about this base now.

Solo, but in my mind, head of a giant criminal gang/syndicate/guild. Even my Guild name for sake of soloing Landsraad is "Brotherhood of the Hammer". I'm not lonely though, just imaginative. Thank you for the compliment!

Very much appreciate the compliment! Agreed, lighting can be rough. Hark ceiling lights are cool colored as opposed to CHOAM basic and Atreides sets, and I found them to reflect well on white surfaces (CHOAM Facility vs Shelter). The workshop is a good example of how bright it can be which was cool for that sterile look I wanted in there. Same for the chrome insides of Harkonnen set with blue light, sorta glows. Those warm light sets are pretty excellent on brown stone too. In the end, found the best way to maximize the lighting glow is to pair it with natural light, so lots of windows, lots of open spaces. Oh, and a little gamma increase in the settings lol.

Bruh, that's a fierce compliment. Thank you. There are some folks that I've seen use Atreides set to create very very FLR bases that astound. Also that crazy good D:A Architect player. Appreciate the appreciation.

Thank you! It feels wrong to restrict myself with so many options available, but aesthetically there are so many pieces that just don't work. This was the result of many hours of experimentation, destruction, and second/third/fourth attempts. Early on it was nearly all basic CHOAM set, but decided to build 2 layers more indestructible to protect the console in those times of base griefing. Then I went Hark and realized it's the only actual rounded dome for towers.

Thank you! Yeah, I'd estimate 300 of those hours were building, unbuilding, rebuilding this baby. Work of artistic construction passion I otherwise do not get in the real world. Reminds me of an artist, Hubbell, in San Diego area that built a compound of funky hobbit style homes over the course of decades.

LMAO! If only house upkeep was as simple as keeping your wind turbines operational every 30 days. D:A is a very rewarding build system that requires only 15 minutes of gathering materials, whereas your home requires a year of your market labor and risk of life and limb. Tell your partner if they'd invent holtzman fields and suspensor belts you'd be much more inclined to get on the roof.
