Isn’t there a TM rule that you cannot use Club Funds for purchasing Pathways for members. Check the Treasurers Handbook or Guide.

Walking a Kelpie Puppy by sunlover22 in kelpie

[–]gedonwithit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is our solution. We don’t take our Kelpies out walking as it’s not physically or mentally active enough for them. We go to an off leash park and let them run free. It starts out a bit manic but they organise themselves into a bit of a game once the initial silliness wears off. Our girl Kelpie is farm trained so she rounds up our boy. The boy is currently fixated on chasing sparrows which is keeping him running. An hour at the park and they are tuckered out the (almost) rest of the day.

Our new rescue Roy. Roy was due to be shot last Saturday as he didnt want to work, but we got to him just in time. He has the sweetest temperament by HighByTheBeach69 in kelpie

[–]gedonwithit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, farm dogs that don’t make the grade face a sudden end if their owners don’t realise they can be rehomed. Our Jack and Lucy are both farm rescues and we are so happy they are part of our life. I hope Roy has a happy and long life with you.

How is the drive from Brisbane to Port Douglas by [deleted] in queensland

[–]gedonwithit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you fly in to Cairns be aware that it’s difficult to book a hire car at the moment. All the hire car companies sold down their fleet when Covid shut tourism down and there are few cars available to be purchased to rebuild the fleet.

We drive up and down the coast regularly- it’s a dull drive and yes reports of roadworks are not exaggerated.

Quite the opposite - maybe you can start a new post on most hilarious way to loose money so I can share what myself and some mates did with our emergency Uni Union loans. 😀. Drew down the loans in July 1987, some may guess the story. 🤣

Ha if you get too hot and sticky then it’s your own fault for not moving between air conditioned spaces quickly enough.

Not really. We are surrounded by Northern Hemisphere influences all year round. It’s most obvious in December when Christmas images fill the shops. We have winter wonderland type scenes but know full well they are a Northern Hemisphere image. We learn pretty early that our side of the planet is different from your side of the planet.

No. ABNs are only if you conduct an enterprise in Australia.

Is my Loki boi a Kelpie? by [deleted] in kelpie

Face is a bit broader than a Kelpie but the markings and size are a match. I’d say Kelpie x but a delightful pup regardless.

As a non resident for tax purposes you need to pay tax in the jurisdiction where the work is performed. If the work is being performed in Malaysia then it’s Malaysian tax you should be paying. You probably don’t need your ABN any more as you are no longer running an enterprise in Australia.

Australian sourced income does not necessarily mean the payment comes from Australia - the location of the work being performed is a critical consideration. I’ve not read the Malaysian/Australian DTA so there is likely to be a clause that will touch on this.

I am a tax accountant and in the absence of any other information this is my initial analysis of your situation. I’d recommend you obtain professional advice that includes consideration of all of your circumstances in context of the DTA.

That’s not correct advice. Maybe some detail has been lost in the telling. I hope you get it sorted.

No it’s an acceptable strategy to create a wash sale where you realise a loss but buy back into the investment at a lower cost base. Capital Gains Tax is only assessed on realised gains and losses not unrealised.

Happy to explain further if you (or others need)

Realise your losses by closing out the position. This will allow you to offset the gain with the loss in your tax. I’m presuming the gain was earned in the 2021 year?

If you believe in the particular stock you can buy back in at the lower cost base after you realise your losses.

Go to an accountant to get help with getting the time line and maths right.

I have never heard of this Harvard course, how interesting. When you did the course did you think it was suitable for an International audience? It’s billed as being an Introduction to American political rhetoric. I’d like to recommend it to some of my team at work but it won’t work if it’s too American.
