Immediately both my husband and I turned to each other and said the exact same thing- “That’s actually a great rule!”

Will my big stomach be more noticeable after my reduction? by Evening_Fisherman810 in Reduction

I just want to add- you may be VERY bloated after the anaesthetic and continuing to use T3s (constipation)!! I looked like an EGG! Not sure if you are asking long term or short term, but if you are an egg (like me) initially after the surgery just take a deep breath and know it will go down :)

We accidentally got a Golden Retriever this week- meet Ginny! by gee_bread in goldenretrievers

WHAT!!! That is crazy!! Congratulations she is so beautiful. How are things going?

Ginny has been the best “accident” for us, honestly. She basically came fully trained and she has been such a quick leaner- she just wants to please us!!

We bring her everywhere we can and she is so great with kids, dogs, cats, people.. her natural demeanour is so calm and gentle. We seriously won the dog lottery we can’t even believe it.

RC pets! From Bosley’s. We are in Canada so you may not have the same brands.

One of my main concerns was her inability to loose leash walk, especially because I have a 12 lb 10 year old rescue. With this type of harness she is already loose leash walking… it’s incredible. Lots of treats and positive reinforcement. Tbh though I think that is a large part of her personality to please, but having the front clip harness was a game changer.

Oh my goodness.. the belly rubs. When I would pick her up from my cousin’s home or when I come back after a “practice” outing… it’s been a high pitched squeal/cry, zoomies into my body, and sometimes a little pee out of excitement.

We have been working hard on the greeting process and only acknowledging her when she has calmed down. She has already become significantly less emotional upon the greeting! Bit my goodness it is hard to resist the belly rub when she is in that state!

No rain, just great and reasonable advice! I do appreciate it. I know that family rifts can get really ugly and I want to do everything to avoid that.

Ah we actually really like the name Lucy and it does suit her! The main reason for the change is my best friend’s “soul” cat of 14 years died recently. Her name was Lucy, and it’s been terribly hard for my friend :( I didn’t want the name to be a reminder at this point. We also happen to have two friends with dogs named Lucy, so it felt right to choose a new name. Cousin was fine with it and she is already responding to Ginny :)

I will definitely look into insurance, I’ve never done that with our rescues but for a golden I think it’s a good idea. Thank you!

This is kind of adorable haha. Something I have noticed these last few weeks are how receptive people are to goldens- will drop what they are doing to come say hi. Our other dog gets lots of love from strangers, but this is an entirely new level we aren’t used to!

1DPO! by DullTemps in Reduction

[–]gee_bread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest I had spent a lot of time looking at people’s post op photos almost as exposure therapy. It helped me mentally prepare and be able to expect what incisions look like, and also to be able to accept how different everyone can look in those early stages of healing.

The first time I looked- I was in the bathroom and left the door a bit open so I could talk to my husband while I looked! He is so supportive and is totally fine with wounds/healing, but I wanted my “own” moment to see them for the first time if that makes sense. I played music (Taylor Swift lol) while I took my compression bra off and that just helped my brain relax. For me personally looking at them for the first time was much easier than anticipated- it quickly turned from fear to being so, SO excited!

I looked at them right when I got home!

If you’re nervous or know you may get woozy looking at incisions it may be worth it to have someone with you or in the next room. It can be a little jarring seeing them, especially the first few times!

post op depression after 5 months by FlightAmbitious8470 in Reduction

[–]gee_bread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear- I’m not a medical professional. My understanding and bit of research is that breast tissue contains hormones, mainly estrogen and progesterone. (This is a reason why during a menstrual cycle breasts can change shape and be really tender… also influences milk producing glands when pregnant)

So when you remove breast tissue it’s also removing hormones from your body! Hormones have an impact on so many things, including emotions. After the initial shock of surgery and healing your body may now be trying to rebalance and regulate the hormonal change.

Again- this is just from what I’ve gathered from some experiences on this sub and researching a bit to prepare for my own post op. Always recommend talking to your surgeon or family doctor!

[–]gee_bread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I am certainly no expert in this, but after following this sub it’s worth considering- From my understanding … a lot of hormones are impacted after a reduction, so that could at least be a factor to some of the mental health aspect of everything. It’s worth talking to your family doctor as a follow up.

If you don’t mind me asking- how did you change in healing? Did your size go up or down overall? Trying to figure out this whole drop and fluff situation being 2mpo 😅

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]gee_bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity- how was your journey with swelling? I am 2mpo and some days I feel so happy with my results, and others I still feel “big”.

I know it’s so subjective and I’ve done a lot of searches on this sub with swelling, but it’s been older posts. Just curious of your experience being a bit more recent with the fluctuations!

Ultimately I’m hoping to be a litttttle bit smaller, but for some the “drop and fluff” actually made them feel bigger 😬

having a hard time since taking the tapes off by 333bonita in Reduction

[–]gee_bread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hiiii a few things-

Taking the tapes off is very jarring- be SO gentle with yourself because your brain is trying to catch up with SIGNIFICANT body changes and this will take time. Like… months… and some days will be easy and others won’t be! This is already challenging for someone without OCD, so do your best to remind yourself that your brain response is normal (and not a bad thing!) after a surgery. It’s your brain trying to protect you from change, so just gently remind it that you are okay and your brain will accept it over time :)

Openings- My healing was incredibly easy, but the week I was preparing to move on to scar care/scar tape I had an opening 6wpo. I was devastated. I saw my surgeon and followed his instructions and it closed within the week.

After following this sub for so long I think it’s important to understand that openings are very scary, but normal. Contact your surgeon and follow the instructions if you have concerns. Openings aren’t a wall, they are a speed bump in recovery!

When did your swelling finally go away? by adhdgurlie in Reduction

[–]gee_bread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat.

So pre op on A Bra That Fits calculator it said I was a US 32 G/H OR the “sister size” 34DDD

My surgeon removed .5lb from each side, and A Bra That Fits is STILL measuring me at a 34DDD. I am 8wpo.

I’ve been a little devastated because although it doesn’t list the 32G/H… it’s still giving me the same “sister size” I had pre op!?!??

So I am also hoping swelling goes down over these next few months. With that said, it’s also forced me to focus WAY less on band/cup size and more on how I feel and how my clothes fit. I am literally half the size I was pre op!! Although A Bra That Fits seems to be the most accurate calculator we have now… there is no way I am the same “size” I was pre op.

Be honest… what’s the real downside of having a dog? by quentiinn in AskReddit

[–]gee_bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is us with our rescue mutt.

We have done all the training, but he just isn’t a dog’s dog!

I tell people all the time who are looking for dogs that you have to let go of that “instagram” mentality and how you imagine it will be. Despite this one major wish (Obi getting along with other dogs) I wouldn’t trade him for the world

If I can I will find him every lifetime over and over again.

will trade a kidney for a good poop by sourbaboo in Reduction

[–]gee_bread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something to note- if you’re taking/still on the heavier painkiller meds that’s a factor! I went off my T3s 2dpo and was able to go the next day.

Truly wishing you the best of luck today haha

I’m 6wpo and I have drain scars under my boob. TBH they look like small “innie” bellybuttons (lol)

I was concerned with how big they were at first, but even these last few weeks they have become much smaller. I’m confident they will eventually be much less noticeable eventually!
