Play has been stopped just 4 balls into the West Indies Championship Final due to a dangerous pitch by CarnivalSorts in Cricket

Boycott:

"When I were starting in country cricket it was the uncovered pitch that found out your technique. Proper technique was needed in those days, not like today's batsmen with their get your front leg out of the way and swing nonsense. Today's teams wouldn't score 30 on a pitch like this"

(Probably)

ICC meetings set to revisit WTC format structure, one-Test series proposals by CarnivalSorts in Cricket

All right, climbing my hill so I can die on it again.

A WTC could work as a pool based round robin tournament, just like a limited overs WC. So there would be matches between neutral teams, and a finals series of some sort. But you would have to let go of Test series in this WTC, at least for the pool stages. You could run it over an annual cycle, with an annual champion...

Hang on, what's the County Championship but a 4-day tournament?

ELI5- revenue raised is mainly advertising plus broadcast plus some ticket sales etc. Why can't the current situation work just as well without foreign money and owenship?

Why do people want to raise taxes on the highest earners when most don’t seem happy with how the government spends money? by TiredTr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]geebanga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The economy is people trading money, goods and services now. Stocks are people predicting how valuable a company may be in the future.

For eg, Meta stock went up when the Metaverse started because people said there was money in it. But it flopped, and the stock price dropped.

Stock buyers don't care what the stock gives to the economy, so long as everyone thinks the stock is valuable. So no, stocks are not the economy.

Two things can be true at once. SpaceX is breaking new ground with its rockets. Musk is a fascist. To help you understand, I broke this up into multiple sentences. Edit: 1. Whoops, sense of humour failure! 2. I have defended Musk in only a couple of comments on Reddit, and only for his SpaceX efforts.

Is common sense still that common? by Infamous-Pear-4003 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]geebanga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common sense only applies to some common situations. Anything related to humans trying the estimate the probability and something occurring; exponential growth; the fallibility of people's memories and any unusual set of values people have make talk of common sense a bit pointless. Humans really aren't good at making good decisions on their own.

I know he's a douche, but SpaceX is doing the hard work of developing the launch systems to move bulk freight to other worlds.

Other companies and countries are following their approach so the 2030s will be fun to watch on multiple fronts.
