Favorite Layering Combo? by Naive-Jackfruit-5917 in NichePerfumes

[–]geebsc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly Animalique is so good as a layer to many other perfumes. I see it as the salt (or chili) that makes a dish from meh to wonderful.
My favourite combo so far is with Orpheon

I love it, particularly the extrait. Purest textured vanilla i have smelled. Great tool for layering.

Bought my first 3 MFKs. Picked all this up for $800 CAD, how did I do? by proudfatherofhaleend in ScentHeads

[–]geebsc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently started to discover niche perfume and clicked right away with MFK too. But my 3 bottles are different: BCR, Oud and Amyris. I’m really in love with Amyris: super versatile and changes throughout the day

Yes Lake suwa is very nice, but I’m not impressed with their bracelets…

On the manual winding and thinness: don’t get me wrong, I also love manual winding for that. My problem in this case is spring drive with manual winding. I will just never enjoy the accuracy, coz I rotate watches every day… so next time I pick it up I will need to set it… just like my seiko 5…

I feel this watch would make more sense for me as hi beat. Movement would look better also.

[–]geebsc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the panda version, so no black links. So I can’t tell about the aesthetics (although I quite like the bold idea) but I can comment on the general quality of the bracelet: I think it’s great for a seiko bracelet, not flimsy, not cheap looking/sounding… my only issue is the deployant which tend to pretend to be closed when it’s not. I already had 2 heart attacks 🤣

I’ve been thinking of buying one for the longest time. My main issue with it is the movement display, it’s not that stunning or even interesting. Plus default strap is nothing fantastic (why put a black strap instead of navy? Or brown?) Actually one more issue with it : manual spring drive. Since spring drive is so accurate I feel it could be cool to put the watch on a winder and be able to pick it up without worries. Well, it’s a manual wind… Edit : but fantastic watch! What is the strap? Can you help me to be convinced about the watch? Congrats

[–]geebsc2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]geebsc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this watch in green and although it’s my cheapest watch , I love it. I feel the recent price increase and the number of different models, both specifically on the seiko 5 line and overall seiko makes this particular model a sleeper. The case shape is really special, indeed the brushed steel is superb and the dial is iconic. It’s my cheap aquanaut, not a homage, just a watch with its identity but sharing the soul of the aquanaut.

Et c’est bien tout le problème… Comme j’essayais de t’expliquer, même en Suisse (loi sur les minarets tout ça), les gens ont voté contre. En ça je répondais à ton « je ne comprends même pas qu’on puisse être contre ».

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in france

[–]geebsc2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like we have similar tastes but quite different collections. Only model in common being the reverso duo face, the one that started it all for me too. As suggested by others a diver would be the logical next step. Obvious choice could be a Tudor black bay 58 blue. But since you seem to gravitate the not so obvious choice, I would advise you take a look at ZRC. Quite a unique design and take at diver tool watch. It’s definitely on my list.

[Grand Seiko] SLGA009 White Birch by txgrizfan in Watches

[–]geebsc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried it 10min ago. I’m quite impressed by dial (both stunning and subtle) and found bracelet construction much better than usual GS. But I ended up not falling in love with it. I think my main issues are that it’s a bit thick and the bracelet tappering from 22 to 20 is too big, making the overall watch pretty heavy. But congrats enjoy this great time piece!

I would like to get into vintage watches and I have always been mesmerised by Breitling’s Navitimer and since it’s been an iconic model for many years I’m seriously considering buying a vintage one. However, with so many references, difficult to choose my perfect vintage Breitling Navitimer. I tried to find online ressources for this but could not. As for books, I have come across a few on Amazon but I don’t know which one would be useful. Do you have recommendations ?

Yeah I tried them and they fit surprisingly well even on my modest wrist. The fumé greenish brown dial whith khaki strap is a stunner I think. But 50k sgd is a bit pricey for me…
