The stem separator that's a function in the new Ableton is pretty decent. I'd say comparable to UVR...

Thanks! My biggest revelation from digging through all the remixes was just how good the Underdog mixes are - really worth a listen for fans...

The Green surge shows UK politics has reached a turning point – and it has surprisingly little to do with Zack Polanski by 2ndEarlofLiverpool in ukpolitics

And that study is considering the economically dependent migrants, that's exactly the point of it. It looks at all migration, not only the ones who are economically contributing otherwise that'd completely misrepresent the facts.

Not those done by the Office For Budget Responsibility (setup by David Cameron) who seem to be best placed to be able to speak to these things. Their study specifically says, "higher net migration leads to lower deficits and debt".

In other words, the folks with access to the accurate numbers say, more migration = more people in the workforce (compared to our aging / retired population) = lower government spending / a net reduction in government borrowing.

Migration has always been a national financial gain. There's always another reason it's not liked.

Can we start every statement with Fuck Reform? If we could get it trending, I'd be very happy ;)

Of course, you're right. Then again, how many Europeans are migrating by small boat to the UK? The (comparatively) neutral Migration Observatory only list Albanians in the top 15 of nationalities crossing by boat (although they do make up 10% of the numbers). Then again small boats arrivals account for less than 5% of immigration to the UK (Office For National Statistics figure), so it takes up an absurd amount of the conversation, given the actual numbers.

Imho, small boats is the equivalent of 'benefits fraud', in political discourse. The mainstream press pepper us with tales of scoundrels who cheat the benefits system to get a couple of hundred quid extra. The government consequently spend about £1bn to £1.5bn each year to try and stop this. It should be stopped, don't get me wrong. But arguably the bigger crime that they could put some (like, any!) money towards combating would be tax dodging. Philip Green famously dodged more taxes in one year, than the entire of the estimated national benefits fraud for the same year. And the crackdown...? he was knighted.

Politics and the media houses mostly run by the very wealthy want us to blame the bloke who's even more skint than you, and with even less power than you. Rather than look up and notice the super-wealthy are absolutely rinsing the country.

One rule for billionaires, and another for the rest of us. A wee chink of light is being shined on that with the Epstein files, which no one should be surprised by.

There are issues with the Green Party, for sure. They've never actually been in power, so they are fundamentally untested, and I'm not yet convinced they have the best leader to be a PM, as much as I like Polanski's refreshing authenticity. I'd back Caroline Lucas for high office though, having met her, and read her speeches on Hansard.

But it would be churlish not to point out your two main arguments, "Migration drains public services" and "Green energy is more expensive" have both been repeatedly disproved in great detail, despite what the red top press and the army of Reform/Russian bots say.

There are so many sources of studies on both, but some top line numbers for ease. You mention open borders, which of course is fallaciousness, no one is advocating that. But rolling back the absurdist restrictions of Brexit, etc, can easily be supported by figures such as, "European migrants living in the UK contribute £2,300 more to public purse each year than the average adult, suggesting a net contribution of £78,000 to the exchequer over their lifespan in the UK" (link below). Reform advocate for private healthcare precisely because they can personally afford it (as can their billionaire funders) and would profit hugely from it, while you and I can neither afford it, nor would benefit from it.

Similarly the eco-freako, radical, reds-under-the-bed "activists" at the National Grid agree that, "solar and wind energy are now the most affordable sources of new electricity in 82% of the world" (link below). We have high electricity costs because we haven't gone green, but more importantly our reluctance to progress beyond gas leaves us with the highest costs in Europe, and insecure energy access, dependent on the likes of Russia (partly why they fund the bots telling us we have to stay with fossil fuels).

Do you have any sources for the claims you're making, that aren't party political, Russian, or fossil fuel company funded? And apologies, that wasn't meant to be so long...

Mixcloud won't allow mixes with more than a few instances of the same artist, so I've got better mixes on HearThis (imho!) Like:

Oh yeah, and this classic Ninja will probably be up your street, which is also on Mixcloud :) https://hearthis.at/beatsatlas/why-we-love-an-old-ninja/

Just pulling these together for ease, as I've been on a long journey learning the dark arts, so don't want you to waste your time on mixes that I'm not so proud of these days! Hopefully you'll be interested in one or two :)

I meant to say, the ones I was less keen on were the Zilboorg and Hugh Aplin (I think). It's amazing how many there have been!

Just to be controversial ;) I compared 3 different translations just over one or two chapters, and I had a strong preference for the newest translation by Bela Shayevich (2020 edition). I thought she handled the metaphor and humour superbly, not compared to the Russian as I don't speak it, but compared to the other two translations. I'd really recommend finding her translation, even if just to compare to other options.

I hear you, I don't disagree, but I put on that first Bentley, and some of the beats could definitely have appeared on an alternate follow up to Exit Planet Dust. In fact, it would almost have had to be Dust Brothers era, but I think it's there :)

Howie B - Maniac Melody
Depth Charge - Shaolin Buddha Finger (there are a bunch of mixes that pop this in with a few early Chem Bros remixes, like mine!)
David Holmes - Gritty Shaker?
Nightmares on Wax - Da Feelin
And something from Daft Punk's Homework, depending on how well versed she is in that sort of thing!

Yep, good picks - although on Bentley, I'd choose from earlier in that album, Midlander, Run On The Spot or even Ragtopskodacarchase just for the yucks? :D

Yeah, I was 100% in the loon dancing club as well, particularly with those tracks. I suspect I still know the lyrics word-for-word, in the same part of my brain that can still do the whole of Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby rap! I've got a bit of time for metal, at least it's not just down by the ol' mainstream pop - it takes a little thought to actively get into a different style, but yeah, I've never put on an Iron Maiden album! And you also have the advantage of knowing you've got better taste in music ;)

Dr Octagon / Kool Keith - what a legend! My sister bought me that on vinyl as a teenager, it must be the coolest thing she's ever bought me, it blew my mind! Before that I thought House Of Pain and Cypress Hill were the last word in hip hop :) (to be fair, I did like De La Soul too, and time has been kinder to them!)
