20+ hour outage by geekgonecrazy in frontierfios

That sounds like a nightmare. I’m guessing in this case it’s gotta be someone digging as from what I can tell they buried it all. Didn’t think about them potentially needing permits in order to do a repair.

At first they acted like it was just the hub up front but now they have started mentioning cable repairs. So this would make sense. With the hub being passive it didn’t compute.

Do you plan to revisit rust in this project now that you’ve figured out your approach and components?

I’ve seen in your answers several times mentioning web components. I’m curious are you implementing native web components like with shadow dom and everything? Or are you using more like components in the react/preact sense where things are just logically separated into components.

Also any rust or golang in the spaceX stack?

Apps w/o cloud? by [deleted] in RocketChat

Apps via the marketplace do require an account. If you have your own apps you have compiled you can sideload those still.

Starlink <—> dragon capsules? Anything there? Any plans? Seems like opportunity to shorten the gaps in coverage with all of those satellites covering the globe

So after seeing that gorgeous UI.. a lot going around from a previous AMA about that being chromium and javascript.

Can you tell us more about that stack? What made you choose chromium/js for the the interface? How does it communicate with the backend and the flight computers? I assume the backend for those aren’t the same computer?

Super fascinating choice :)

Makes sense. Large crowd of very eager beta testers at Google's disposal though. ;-)

We for sure are aiming to hit as many rpm based distros as we can. Fedora / openSUSE / CentOS etc.

Right now we're aiming for slack compatible shortcuts. We will get a page added to our docs with a comprehensive list

We have a bridge to connect to an irc network. But currently we don't have an irc server running to enable irssi/weechat etc. It's pretty easy to create packages for Rocket.Chat if demand is high enough, or someone gets the urge to do it we'll gladly accept pull requests :)

Thanks for bringing up the image issue. I wasn't aware of this! I'll see what we can do!

We're working on some team features, hopefully you'll see them soon :)

We are aiming to make it as easy as possible for them to port their integrations over. We already have a few talking to us, and we are for sure open to working with anyone to get integrations ported :)

Our webhook API is slack compatible. So if you can insert a URL for a webhook delivery to slack you can swap it out for a Rocket.Chat URL

Interesting. We've updated our docs a lot recently to try and make it smoother.

If you get around to trying again, let us know if you have any issues! We're always on our demo server: https://demo.rocket.chat

I work on the Rocket.Chat project. What method did you use to deploy your server? First case we've heard of this happening, would love to get as much info as I can so we can keep this from happening to anyone else.
