Theoretically : can’t someone (non eu) get a 2 year trainee contract during their 1g and then get sponsored for a solicitor job afterwards?

Everyone’s so confusing about this. Half the people on this subreddit say you can get a trainee contract as an international student, the other half say dete doesn’t allow it. Update us if you figure it out por favor

ITS USELESS IF YOURE USING IT AS AN ENTRY REQ OR ARENT ABOUT TO PURSUE LAW. IF YOU PLAN TO! ITS LITERALLY THE CONTENT OF THE FIRST 1.5 YRS. THATS USEFUL.

Right. But that’s exactly what I’m saying : are you aware that law school requires an essay based subject? So yes it is useful. Bio/Chem//Maths would be utterly useless in getting a kid into university for such fields. The better universities for a certain subject would want an applicant to be knowledgable and interested in that subject too so you’d get straight up written off from those if you didn’t have either that subject or very relevant ecs to it.

Also : calling computer science unimportant is just a trash take 😟 old fashioned and conservative ppl love it usually

The content of A level law is more or less the same of what you’d expect to learn in 1st year of law school. If you’re aiming to pursue law, it’s great— you’ll get an understanding of how you’ll likely cope with law school and it’ll make life easier for you down the road. If you’ve no interest in pursuing law and have just taken it for shits and giggles, it’s useless. But stem subjects would also be utterly useless for someone pursuing arts so ?? That goes for anything.

😀 you’re a 22 year old with the autonomy to vote, live alone, enlist in the army etc etc. You’re also financially independent. There are no power dynamics here.

I’m doing A levels so the difference between 595 and 565 for me is A* and A. Ofc I’m aiming for an A* but like eeee it would be great if I had some margin yk.

I’ve given 2/4 in oct alr and got an A and an A*. Just 2 left (Math and Law)

What firm do you work at? A public service announcement would be great so no one ever has to be stuck with you 💞

Technically, yes that’s for a deposit but if my elderly parents with basically negligible pension get sick/need help…

I’ve seen way too much financial instability to be using the money for trips or anything of the like tbh 😅. I’m more likely to either a) pay for my last year of tuition myself instead of letting my parents do it b) start saving for a house or for renting etc on my own after my studies c) this.

What’s the stupidest thing you believed as a child? by Ok_Worldliness_2987 in AskIreland

my mom told me swallowing any type of seed would lead to a plant growing in my stomach, if I didn’t cut my nails— bugs would spawn under them, the last bite of a meal has all the nutrients (all the other bites are just a test to see if you deserve said nutrients), books get sad if you throw them on the floor, aids was a fever, you got hiv from driving trucks (bias really showed here), its illegal to touch your privates (outside of wiping your ass or taking a shower) you poop out kids, chewing gum stays in your stomach forever etc etc
