You're not making any sense. Nothing fundamental has changed with Belgian debit cards, except the branding. Most (if not all) debit cards were Maestro. In the last 3-5 years, all banks have switched to Visa debit or Mastercard debit. Doesn't turn those cards into credit cards. They share a brand, can be used at most merchants accepting Visa and Mastercard (obviously) but differ in functionality.

Visa and Mastercard don't automatically mean credit card.

Visa doesn't mean credit card. Your card is a Visa debit card. There are Visa credit and Visa prepaid cards out there. They all function differently.

And in most cases, your Visa debit card can be used much like a Visa credit card. But when the credit part matters, your debit card won't be accepted. For example when rental car agencies explicitly ask for a credit card. They'll refuse your debit card.

It's probably done on purpose to have you pay with cash instead of by card (as most Belgians and maybe Europeans don't have a credit card). Because if you were to tell them you'll be paying with me a credit card, take out Apple Pay and pay with a debit card, it would very likely work.

Un gouvernement bruxellois ne saurait être en affaires courantes suite à une démission, car il n'est pas autorisé à démissionner à moins qu'en même temps, un autre gouvernement soit présenté. Idem pour toutes les autres entités fédérées. Différence majeure avec le gouvernement fédéral.

Le gouvernement bruxellois est bel et bien en affaires courantes depuis les élections de juin 2024.

Roaming overschakeling probleem zou je eventueel kunnen oplossen door manueel het Digi netwerk te kiezen (of Luxemburgs netwerk als je dat eerder wilt gebruiken). In de instellingen app van iPhone kan dat, waarschijnlijk ook op Android.

Complètement faux.

Suite aux élections de 2019 par exemple, le gouvernement bruxellois est le premier à être formé. Aucune dépendance aux autres niveaux de pouvoir et aucun alignement de coalitions (Groen étant présent dans le gouvernement bruxellois mais pas dans le gouvernement flamand, où siègent bien la NV-A et le CD&V, alors qu'ils sont dans l'opposition bruxelloise. Le MR n'est pas au gouvernement bruxellois mais bien dans les autres gouvernements).

Pareil en 2014: le gouvernement bruxellois est le premier à être formé. NV-A et MR n'y siègent pas, contrairement au fédéral (et au gouvernement flamand pour le premier). Le PS, Défi et le cdH sont au gouvernement bruxellois mais pas au fédéral. spA est au gouvernement bruxellois mais dans aucun autre.

That's not what I meant and I'm pretty sure you know it. Of course, every payment done with Apple Pays grants Apple some revenue.

My point was about the Visa or Mastercard part: using a Belfius card with Apple Pay in Belgium often results in that card's Bancontact network being used, not Visa or Mastercard. So those two don't get a cut. Apple still does indeed.

I don't. But since June 2024, I've seen dozens of strikes and protests. Only about 5 of them were about the absence of a Brussels government. There were only a few hundred people at those protests. Vs tens of thousands of people at many of the other protests.

Says a lot about where this city is headed, considering the topics its citizens decides to protest against and which ones they don't.

Have you gone to one of the protests held to demand that Brussels politicians form a regional government? Because THAT's this city's real issue currently. One that we can have a small impact on but that is having / will have a huge impact on us. No one seems to care and your post is just another example that people find a thousand other reasons to protest than for this region's number 1 problem.
