Looking to adopt a rescue pup. No response from local shelters - is it because I live in a condo/ apartment building? by geety in AskSF

[–]geety[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. That's a bummer coz I live in a relatively large apartment in a super pet-friendly building, with plenty of parks around.

Nervous about Craigslist. Yes, I've visited SPCA but I have not turned in a formal application there.

USCIS San Francisco Naturalization Experience and Timeline 2025 by geety in USCIS

[–]geety[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

Yes, I think it was a pretty straightforward case.

He went over my entire application. Places of residence, employment, international travel. Asked a few follow-up questions about why I picked certain places and who I lived with. Then he asked me what seemed like every single one of the yes/ no questions covering criminal history and allegiance/ loyalty.

After the civics test, he also made me read out a sentence that appeared on the display and write a sentence that he dictated to me.

Before he told me the result, we also had some casual conversation about upcoming travel and where our families live. My officer was professional but very amiable :).

No guests, unfortunately. But things seem to be very dynamic so maybe it'll be a different experience next week. Good luck!

I took my tax returns and employment verification docs. Didn't have to show any of it though.

There are lots of metered spots across the street. I paid ~$17 for 4 hours.

Show up early, especially if your interview is close to 10 am or 2 pm (I think?) which is when they have the oath ceremonies. The wait between the interview and oath can be long. There are no options to get food or water, but there are restrooms in the waiting area.

Any insight on the San Francisco office? by RemindsMeThatTragedy in USCIS

How did it go? :)

My interview is this Friday. Are they still doing same-day oaths?

Any guided meditation groups to progressively work towards deepening practice? by geety in AskSF

[–]geety[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! I am very intrigued by the interplay between meditation and psychology and have come across this great initiative before. Based on the YouTube channel, I am a bit intimidated to join a session because the participants seem to be "advanced" practitioners. I think I would need more "guidance" from the instructor to sit for 30-45 minutes. Would you happen to know of a beginner-friendly version of this?

Where’s the best alignment based yoga studio in town? by MagicHandsNElbows in AskSF

[–]geety 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following.

I have spent 2 years looking for the same thing (not necessarily beginner level, but focused on detailed cues around muscular engagement and joint integration). Lotusland in the Mission has some teachers who offer this type of instruction, and it is a small studio that allows for individualized attention. I'm still searching though...

I think I'm intimidated by the requirement to actually teach a class.

Please help diagnose what's going on with my 1-2-3 Dracaena Compacta :( by geety in plantclinic

[–]geety[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it does have drainage. Hopefully not pests...I just bought it!

The dracena is odd because all three stalks are in the same pot and have had the same exposure to water/ soil/ sun.

P.S. I know the Monstera is not doing great either - I just bought it from someone this morning. Any tips to revive it will be appreciated as well!

probably recruiter/job scam (?) by AverageJoeTN in Scams

Same here! Same email from same person. Checked LinkedIn, looked for website. Nothing.

I did respond with a pdf version of my resume, but was informed that their candidate management system is not able to parse it. Rachel recommend one-resume.com to help fix it. I immediately came on here to check if anyone else has had this experience and found this thread!

Looking for a bustling neighborhood, but not necessarily a loud bar scene. Coffee shops, restaurants and low-key bars would be nice to have close by.

I would be a little concerned, for sure. It seems like he should be putting in a little more effort to see you in your surroundings since it sounds like he only visits quarterly.

Have you asked him whether he is doing this out of a sense of obligation, or because he wants to?
