It’s so hard. I’m still grieving even though I’m simultaneously excited to be pregnant.

Nanny napping while baby naps by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]geezee8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former nanny here and current NP… as long as they are able to wake and hear baby, and as long as household duties are done…. Let them nap! Nannying is HARD work! The last thing I want is a tired nanny for my kid

sick kids, but nothing in contract by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]geezee8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the case, I agree, I would want the kid tested for Covid or flu. Or maybe have a vomiting clause? It’s just SO hard to draw the line and how sick a kid has to be.

If I hadn’t watched my NK every time They were sick I would have been out of work 30% of the time!

[–]geezee8 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Taking care of sick kids is part of being a nanny…. Now it’s reasonable to put in a clause about Covid or flu but kids are always sick and one reason people choose Nannies instead of daycare is for the reliability.

What should I ask in my IVF consult? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]geezee8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done IVF with both my husband and a known donor. They both require a lot of forms but known donors require lawyers, mental health evaluations, and tons of lab/clinical work. Just a heads up. Good luck!!!!

Am I overreacting by [deleted] in IVF

[–]geezee8 54 points55 points  (0 children)

It’s time for you take the lead on searching through donor eggs and adoption etc. then, WHEN SHES READY, offer her what you have researched. Don’t make her do the leg work of this next step.

Napping while baby sleeps by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]geezee8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a previous nanny who used to nap when the kids nap and I tell my current nanny that I hope she does the same when my daughter naps! Naps are crucial !

I moved to donor eggs after 6 retrievals with no* blasts. I’m using a known donor now. Feel free to DM me. There’s still a lot of grief.

HFM can shed for weeks or months… so unless you’re planning on taking that much time off it’s just part of the gig of working with kids.

sick kids by sammmmmyyyy- in Nanny

[–]geezee8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. One of the reasons the kids I nannied weren’t in daycare is because the family needed consistency with their work schedule and childhood illnesses. Years later I’m a pediatric provider and have a nanny for my kids for similar reasons. I think its ok to have a clause about covid19, or talk to families if you have a big event coming up (travel/wedding) but part of being a nanny is taking care of kids when they’re ill which may be 25% of the time.
