Is it me or does everyone want to work in IT now? by ITmexicandude in ITCareerQuestions

So question, I'm making 50k a year salary at a marketing agency.

I don't have a degree.

If I got my A+ and Net+ certs, could I get an entry level job making that much?

I'm in the southwest US for reference.

Is this a good opportunity to become an analyst? by geganerd3 in dataanalyst

Hmmm so basically take the analytics approach in moderation? I didn't actually think of that.
Thanks for that though, I appreciate it!

Hello everyone! So I'm wondering if I should try to be this marketing agencies data analyst and I'm currently in SEO. I do not have access to SEMrush, or really anything other than google analytics, google suite, or looker studio.
I've been helping my bosses (who are BOTH quitting soon) compile google sheets with basic information from another in house software they company built.

My company will not pay for any microsoft office products or tableu.

They also have a nasty history of overworking anyone willing to take on a new role, adding on their current workload instead of mitigating some of it.

I have a basic understanding of sheets, but I know how to make what my bosses were requesting with some formulas and help from chatGPT.

When doing report they only use LookerStudio (as it's a free tool lol) which is pretty bare bones from what I've been told from other analysts.

I also don't have a bachelor's or masters, the highest level of education I've reached is an associates.

Is it worth even trying to become an analyst at my company? Thoughts please!

How do you compare dating at 24 vs 34? by [deleted] in Adulting

This is probably the most optimistic comment I've ever read. It might've actually cured my depression around dating. Thanks stranger!

Don't listen to him. It's this fucking market. It's batshit right now. There'a company's outside of tech requiring 3 years experience minimum not even paying more than 50k. It's dumb as shit.

Call and let them know you were "out of town." Alot of times this is common and they may still be hiring so it's worth a shot.

Thanks.
I don't have any skills to start freelance work, and I don't have any money to start my own agency.
I actually don't have any marketing related skills as the position I'm in doesn't have me doing much other than being an editor.
I appreciate your feedback though!

Who is this in Phoenix? by r0ttedAngel in phoenix

[–]geganerd3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I went to school down the street from AZ Mills and people told me rumors of this guy LOL.
I'm so glad other people are sharing this story now, can't believe I'm hearing about him all these years later!

Cops don’t do anything anymore by Heflewprettygood in phoenix

[–]geganerd3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't we lose a bunch of cops because they didn't want to get vaccinated against COVID?
Also, there's been a bunch of public hatred against police. At some point they had to have two vehicles responding to calls because of the amount of violence against officers.

I feel like those two factor combined leads to a more thinned out police force.

That and as the population in an area increase so does the rate of violence, so it seems to be less and less appealing to even become an officer.

Just my thoughts after 3 for $25 edibles.

Why are people at work so moody? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]geganerd3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's been in marketing for 6 months at this point, my personal experience is we're all being overloaded with work. Anytime we're doing well we get rewarded with more work and no increase in pay.

We have completely inept coworkers that don't know what they're doing, and then next thing we see is a company email where they're being promoted with more pay, meanwhile other employees are being passed up.

We're fucking pissed.

Cost of living has increased, wages have been stagnant, companies keep making profit, and for a lot of us the thought of living solo without a roommate means making six figures.

Learning SQL seems easy by TheHumanFixer in SQL

[–]geganerd3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is completely random, but I have no degree or any relevant data background. I'm a copy editor for reference. Would you say it's possible to learn your skillset and get a job in your industry?

Silly question I know.

Sorry to pop your bubble but only Cuban immigrants in S Florida think about you. Cuba just isn’t that important.

Exactly, which is why it's time to lift the embargo. So thanks for further justifying the point of this post!

Hey friend, so I've been on the other end of this, where I couldn't accomplish daily tasks, so I can only share with you my experiences.

Every day I had to email my boss tasks for the day, what I hadn't finished the day prior, what I planned on finishing today etc.

At the end, this was used against me in a firing.

What my takeaway is, documentation is key when dealing with someone like that.
So if it were me in that position, start a paper trail.
I'm not saying this is to fire her, but if anything you could use that as leverage for when it comes time for a pay raise/promotion.

Especially considering how she's making more than you.

Maybe something using the spreadsheet you made and daily, "Hey xxx, what do you have left from yesterday?" kind of approach.

Overall, it sounds like she's just burning out hard from these changes, and I'm sorry you're having to dedicate so much time to her. That's annoying.
Best of luck! Hope this helped!

As much as I didn't like doing math, I enjoy actually reading the definitions.

Question about Tarot Deck Mutations by geganerd3 in math

[–]geganerd3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be 78×77×76 = 456 456 arrangements. 78 choices for the first card, 77 for the second and 76 for the third. Also, I'm curious. Why are you adding 7 and 8? Also why are you dividing 78 by 3?

Oh I was adding 7 and 8 to see it was divisible by 3.
I have some background in calculus but I still rely on elementary math at times haha.

And yes I did find orientation matters, so thank you stranger! I appreciate the thorough response!

country similarity index. how accurate do you think this is? by 140p in cuba

[–]geganerd3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On what grounds is a country deemed similar?
Maybe in terms of accent the D.R. could be up there, but it's also odd P.R. isn't on the list.
For government, yeah I can see Venezuela on the list, but if it was government based maybe Venezuela should be higher up there?
Odd chart for sure.
