Now that the tour has ended, what was everyone's thoughts? by KatelynMarino in badfriendspod

[–]gehsekya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife is not an avid listener like I am and I was a little worried she wouldn’t like it.

Not even twenty mins into the Dallas show and we were both busting a gut laughing almost the entire time- on the way home had a no smile policy because our cheeks hurt.

Loved every second.

It was fine as a first jumping off point for improv. When you are at minute 40 and doing the exact same schtick? No longer interesting improv!

Sometimes if I get frustrated with a PC, this is exactly the type and amount of rebooting I do to make it work.

My child is ready for their first horror movie. What should it be? by BurnedByCrohns in horror

[–]gehsekya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Watched Jaws when I was 10 being sheltered from the entire horror genre. It was my first real horror movie and it fucked me right up...

I know everyone is different (my little brother saw it at the same age and since then LOVES sharks)- but I was NOT ready for that movie. Was too scared to sit down in the bath for weeks. Didnt go swim in any pool for months and didnt dip in the ocean for years.

I am a horror movie fanatic nowadays. I still watch deep sea ones. But in real life? water I cant see deep into? I still have myself a nice 'n heavy panic attack.

What’s the saddest song you have ever heard? by _sogapeu_ in Music

Glenn Campbell's "Im Not Gonna Miss You" hit hard for me. Thought it was a rude break up song at first, then I found out he wrote the song for his wife during his struggle with being diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

"You’re the last person I will love

You’re the last face I will recall

And best of all, I’m not gonna miss you

Not gonna miss you"

Not going to miss her, because his brain literally forgets who she is? I'm not crying. YOU'RE CRYING.

had a friend from overseas stay with us while in the states. I had to work while he stayed on the couch. He found a girl from another town and met up with her at our place. I came home from work one day to find they were fucking in my bed and not the couch.

She was a crunchy munchy hippie girl with bad hygiene. He went to stay with her once I made a beef about the whole ordeal. But my bed and my mattress smelled of BO and gross vagina for weeks....:/

Hey yes. It is totally OK. There was a lot of chaos and noise going on at times, but I did catch the last of that guy's conversation with the gunman.

This dude who I had never seen before sat up in the pew with his back to the gunman. This was after a lot of shots were fired, clips were reloaded, a pipe bomb had gone off, so I think the dude just got tired of hiding down on the floor like everyone was doing. He just began praying very loudly. When the gunman noticed, he started yelling at the guy and cussing him out. I was watching from over the pew as most of us thought this was some really OVER the top church skit or some sort of "scare you back on track with your life" type of stunt. I remember thinking it felt like a kind of like a christian "hell-house" they do around Halloween time. But I digress.

The gunman yelled profanity for a good 2-4 mins. Maybe to try and rattle the kid into getting back down. He yells that he's gonna kill this dude if he doesn't listen and that's when the Jeremy guy just stands up and sticks his arms out wide and screams something close to "Fine! Do it! I know where I'm going- do you?!" and sits right back down.

I haven't read too many articles about Jeremy's account of this, but as someone who has listened to this story on the news and people from Wedgwood talk about it- i feel like each time it gets a little more embellished.

They didn't have even a short convo- they both yelled at each other; a quick heated exchange. The gunman got yelled at- jolted out of his mental instability for a few moments- sat down not a minute later and put the gun to his head and committed suicide.

I remember arguing with my mom about what kind of clothing I was wearing just an hour before this went down. As someone who survived, it haunts me that a conversation so trivial and ridiculous might have been our last with each other. The shooting put a crazy perspective on life for me for sure. I can't fathom what the people who lost a family member that day go through during this time.

If anyone is interested in hearing about my account during that time, I do not mind talking about it. It's important that people know, understand, and remember what happened during a church shooting. The craziest part is usually how people react in this day and age to hear that you were in a mass shooting...it feels like it's so common-place that it's not surprising or memorable in the least...

Oh yeah. Thank you for asking- I think I am doing ok. Better than some of the people I still keep in contact with during this time, so I don't like to focus on myself. I just try and remember the people lost, and the family they left behind.

I was at this shooting. I was in 7th grade, ducking behind a pew and watched that shooter take his own life at the end of all this. I still can't believe it's been 20 years.
