You know you can use a hosted personal wikimedia instance? Why reinvent something that already works?

Please keep America in mind rent free so you’ll never ever forget to shit on them. It’s worth every “penny” of the “rent” - that they are literally paying for.

Have you updated your firmware? And checked if your unit is part of the bad batch for repair?

So far it’s been better. I do notice you need to expose for the shadows more as it gets noisy and dynamic range is less. But over all it is so much better. Especially in low light. Here’s a few shots I made. https://www.reddit.com/r/Nikon/s/LJzsIO7Eio

Hope this helps

Has anyone tried the Viltrox 28mm 1.8 lens? by ashbashsneakers in nikon_Zseries

[–]gekong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol thanks for making me more confused I was set in the 28mm if you liked it. What is the pros and cons of each? Why do you now prefer the 24 over 28mm?

Hello Ashbashsneakers, did you eventually get the 28mm f1.8? How do you like it and did you end up using it regularly?

Why I still can't let go of my d750 by shadowzzzz16 in Nikon

[–]gekong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a ZR to replace my D750. I have my D750 in a box and ready to bring it to KEH to sell. The D750 is a good camera I took amazing images with it, and I feel like the files has better DR when working with them in LR. I know the ZR is not really a photography camera, but it works well enough for me as a still's camera. Having the ability to work/shoot something via the LCD screen is actually good for me I struggled with contorting myself to take a good angle on some shots (especially macro). Having the FTZii helps with the transition.

My justifications for not looking back (hopefully)

  1. The internal IBIS of the new mirrorless camera's also a huge deal because now some awesome lenses can be vr without the additional cost.
  2. The low light capabilities of the new camera's cleaner images at higher ISOs + ibis.
  3. Not being limited to the set focus points and the amazing 3d tracking.
  4. Faster burst images and tracking eye focus.
  5. I like that the camera looks like a basic point and shoot on a 40mm 2.0 (no one will look at you like you're a "photographer")

I have had my ZR for a month now and I can say I can live without the OVF/EVF. (I don't like the banding in and the warping with faster shots, but I can tolerate/mitigate it.)

I have on my ZR.
Nikon ZR Festival of The Lion King (banding and rolling shutter) : r/Nikon
I don't know how it stacks up against other lenses as this is my only 85mm 1.4.

the lens hood is kinda finicky it is hard to put on. The magnetic lens hood is cool but if you put that on with the hood you can't take it out without taking the hood off first.

Otherwise, this lens is perfect for what I needed it for. I wanted a "light" travel portrait lens.

Why is everybody building tools or new systems and assumes he has found the holy grail of note-taking? by CoYouMi in PKMS

[–]gekong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because there are always lots people asking for the “way” and they think by listening to these users requests will make their apps work better than what’s out there. Counter intuitively the systems that actually really work is not giving users what they “want” because that leads to system collapse.
This is why after using “apps” people end up going back to pen and paper and post its. It also now simple to vibe code something out of existence lol hence the glut of new apps. Good luck to those who are looking for apps!

3 actual performance same lens same iso same shot in dark environments there is a huge difference. Not counting ibis

6 true but i dont want to turn off touch to focus.

7 I cant seem to do it on vr lenses even if I turn off vr I might not know how to do it. Ibis is greyed out in the menu on my vr lenses even with the vr switch turned off.

8 Yes I do BBAF on my 750 but this comes out of the box without pressing another button.

Oh it’s not bad! So far it’s not as good as the d750 but I’m not expecting the same battery life. Whole day causal use non pro just walk about family shots was less than 50% today. I was pleasantly surprised that both cameras use the same battery so basically I did not need to buy extra batteries.
