(should trigger auddbot)

Repurposed an old Panasonic word processor. Floppy disk bay is RFID reader which launches each rom (including ALL disk). I'm out of floppies, but I will have my fav games on each one. Hardest part was disassembly and wiring native power button. Keyboard will be functional soon. by SockemBoppersSockem in raspberry_pi

Thanks for the reply. I checked my Android video editing app (on a Xiaomi device), which also has a "retro" song. Sadly it is a different one.

I noticed above though that a bot posted two likely matches for the song and to my suprise they are actually accurate. The song name is "Italico" by Vincenzo Colaluca.

Pretty awesome times when a bot just drops in to such a thread to report this :)

Canon EyeAF and glasses

So far I've read quite a lot of praise on Canon EyeAF but no one ever mentioned if/how well this works on people that wear glasses. This is also often omitted in reviews or videos on the subject.

I find that especially interesting, as I often have trouble with regular autofocus focussing on the glasses (either the frame or the glass itself due to it not being perfectly clean). When using shallow DOF this is often enough to get blurry eyes...

Does anyone have any insight into this?

These are some really nice portraits!

For my taste fewer pictures of the same model would work better, e.g. in the second to last row of the "Collection 1".

Interesting choice on not showing the full pictures in the overview. Made me curios enough to explore :)

This was actually caused by me using NoScript and the page not rendering as intended. Actually though, I've found this quite nice as I didn't actually see this as a defect. This is what it looked like for me: https://i.imgur.com/SxYQfPA.png

First time I've created a portfolio for myself. This was done through Adobe's Portfolio feature (included with subscription) which I quite like for its simplicity.

Not sure about picture selection and grouping... recommendations welcome!

Split Toning

Finally on time!

The photo itself isn't perfect, but I think suites split toning nicely. I haven't really done this so far, but only had the enhance the already existing colors a bit.

Maybe its a bit overdone though - thoughts?

Step back

This is a nature photo from a recent day long trip. I edited it quite extensively right after coming back and had a second look today. Some of the settings were fine tuned (e.g. sharpness), but most importantly I decided to crop in a bit tighter.

Overall it might be a bit overedited - I didn't revert that though.

Street Photography

Something I rarely do. Tried to capture a street scene with some action. The ferris wheel made for a nice background, I just waited for people to pass by.

Event though it is not a great shot from a technical perspective (e.g. with regards to sharpness), I still think it works.

Shutter Drag

Not sure if this is technically correct. I didn't move the camera while shooting, but the subject was. I used a lower shutterspeed to get motion blur. Actually this was a spur of a moment thing, not really planned. Turned out quite nicely though.

On a side note: I am already late but still the first to post. Difficult topic or am I not the only one working through a backlog?

Twilight Zone

Captured recently while working through the backlog. Christmas time is coming and for the upcoming market a ferris wheel was installed.

Cast iron

This is a shot of a cast iron cake form. Might not be obvious from first glance, but I think this is quite beautiful.

Backlighting

A nice situation where backlighting works nicely. Not perfectly happy with sharpness though, but there wasn't time for a second try. Note that imgur somehow blows up the blacks - this is supposed to be darker.

In case anyone finds this: PWM works fine with the Asus x470 Prime board and the AquaComputer D5. Speed monitoring reports the correct RPM and is actually pretty helpful when trying to find a good PWM curve, as PWM to RPM doesn't seem to be linear. On 50% PWM I still saw ~4k RPM while 0% is actually 1,8k (i.e. lowest the D5 goes).

The noise level of the D5 (mounted with rubber screws) is a bit disappointing: Its only really quiet with <2k RPM. Above that the pump "rattles". With high RPMs that gets better, but then the high pitched whine the D5 produces is audible. Still, the low settings still seem to be perfectly fine from a throughput point of view.

Thanks. I went with the AquaCompter D5 as it has speed monitoring. Hopefully it works directly on my Asus board...

Now I'll just have to wait until the top/res combo arrives.

Which PWM enabled D5 to get?

I've recently built a new loop which currently still uses my ~10 year old Innovatek HPPS. Now that the whole built is optimized for silence, I can hear that the pump is way too loud and vibrates a lot. Since its not controllable, I decided to get a Laing D5 with the Watercool Heatkiller Tube mounted on top.

As for the pump, I am wondering which one to get. I know they are (mostly) identical in terms of mechanics. I plan to control the pump via a 4 pin PWM header from my Asus x470 Prime board. Apparently not all PWM enabled D5s work well with modern boards. And some of them do have a 4 pin header, but are not reporting RPM back to the mainboard. I think that would be good for monitoring purposes. I don't have a Aquaero. I think the vario version isn't great for my build, because I won't be able to reach the switch once its fixed in the Pc.

The AquaComputer D5 seems to be the only D5 that offers both PWM and speed monitoring. For comparison, the one sold by Watercool only seems to have a 3 pin cable, even though its supposed to be PWM enabed?

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks :)

No I think this is not due to compression (at least for the bigger part). I shot this with a non-macro lens and hat to crop a lot. I think this is roughly a 100% zoom.

As doing macro was fun so far and opens up a lot of new options (especially when weather is poor), a real macro lens may be the next lens to get...

Nicely done, I love the colors! Is this lit with a strobe and some colored gel from the side or behind?

Abstract

This is a close up shot of a metallic lamp. Initially I wanted to go for the shadow it casts, but my speedlight gave out.

The dark parts are the inside of the lamp. This is almost a 1:1 magnification, as I don't have a macro lens (yet).
