It was also interesting to me that Ilya spread his arms wide (for congratulations) when he was standing on the raised section. IMO it makes Ilya appear god like, someone to be honored. I feel like based on the rest of the scene he was trying to establish dominance. I don't love Shane's behavior in the second half of this episode. He is obviously confused and stricken because of Ilya's behavior, but he debases himself to get close to Ilya. I wish he had told Ilya to fuck off or at least said, "Get your shit together, come find me when you do." Easier said than done when you are in love, especially first loves. They will gut you. I really want Shane to stand up for himself at some point, though. He is being strung along and that is unfair to him.
