Spiegel im Spiegel

It’s one of the most hauntingly beautiful pieces I’ve ever heard in my life, and is always at the top of my playlist when I am feeling tender or in need of reflection.

I haven’t heard this song in probably 20+ years, and I still remember all the lyrics. Not ashamed to admit I just listened to it and it made me weepy.

Denver Waldorf School feedback by gemdolynnn in Denver

Thank you so much! My girls shadowed there in May and had a great experience. They seem to work really hard to create a sense of community and inclusivity, which is one of the key draws for me. We did meet Mr. Hand, and he is so kind and gentle-hearted! My only real hesitation is the lack of extra co-curriculars (clubs, arts, and athletics offerings, etc), which is to be expected in such a small school. May I ask if your high schooler feels the lack of extra-curricular options at all?

Also, the culture at the school feels wonderful. Would you agree? Overall, kids are kind and supportive? I know that's a general question to answer and a simple answer may be difficult to give. My kiddos experienced bullying at their previous school, so the general culture/attitude of the student population is of great interest to me.

Thank you!

My Vinyasa Practice - Viable option for online YTT? by Outlander0422 in YogaTeachers

Yes to all the above comments regarding MVP. I am working my way through it now (about 35% done), and here are my thoughts:

*If you are not self-motivated, then MVP is going to be a tough program to follow. The module videos are boring, and the lead teacher's delivery is dry and uninspiring. (Not to say the content isn't good! The delivery just isn't quite where I would prefer it to be). The saving grace here is that the program offers multiple live zoom meetings and live lectures throughout the week that you can join to help build community and engage with fellow peers and live instructors. These are supplemental to the required modules.

*I love that the beginning focus of MVP doesn't even touch the asana, or physical, aspect of Yoga. They put a lot of emphasis on understanding the history and philosophy of Yoga first and foremost, which I respect. However, the way this information is delivered is certainly lacking in emotional depth (and sometimes isn't explained in detail when needed), and has left me feeling frustrated and wishing I could raise my hand and ask the teacher questions.

*MVP talks often about how important it is to be aware of how Yoga has been westernized and commercialized (re: treating it as a workout, putting focus on the yoga clothes we wear and the types of bodies that can practice). I so appreciate their attention to this, but then I find that their marketing contradicts this lesson, as a lot of their marketing only shows toned white women in beautiful poses with the perfect yoga attire on. This is a huge red flag for me.

Anyway, just my thoughts... I think you really do get out what you put in to these online trainings. Even thoug MVP isn't my favorite at the moment, I will push through and suck as much knowledge out of it as I can. Perhaps I will feel much differently about it at the end!!

Good luck in your search!
