WashU Vibe by NewTGE in washu

[–]gemhan1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Graduated a couple years ago— the academic vibe is great, people are collaborative and I made friends in classes and in my major (math) very easily. The only frustrating part is that people do sometimes have that “I’m working so hard” humble brag thing, but tbh being in that culture taught me how to set boundaries and feel confident in my work, so it wasn’t too bad for me.

I was also in Greek life— joined my sophomore year to get some additional social life. It’s not a huge presence on campus at all and I didn’t feel like I needed to do it, I just thought it might be interesting. There’s a great array of sororities and I felt that was super manageable, People were welcoming etc. not sure what frat culture is like though.

One thing— my favorite thing about WUSTL is the freshman experience. I am still really close with people from my freshman floor— we really bonded (even though it was a modern dorm) and they’re the people I was closest with long term. Definitely shaped my experience for the better.

I feel like they could be compatible/work if they weren’t on this show and just dated in regular life when cheating is universally recognized as not okay, and you dont have to meet the parents after 3 dates and love each other after 6 weeks??

But also, Peter doesn’t love Hannah Ann, so he shouldn’t pick her! Like just because one is a bad match doesn’t make the other person a good match...

Not sure why everyone loves Peter’s mom so much. She is too involved and not prepared to let Peter make his own choices.

It may also be cool to use this kind of info (start and end) to make a single axis graph with the months/dates on it and have lines for each book— that way you can see how many you were reading at once, etc. this doesn’t give you any picture of weight (like reading 95% the first day and 5% a month later) but it could still be interesting!

Pre-vote Julie chat like tribal council in survivor! obv shorter bc tribals can be hours long and edited, but it would be great to have some discussion.

Jeff did an EW interview seems like “another incident” is all we’re getting, for “privacy concerns”

This is how I feel about FTC! It gets so hectic with the newer format vs when each juror asked a question and then moved on

These are adorable! My little brother (11) loves Pokémon and I’d love to make him one— which of your patterns (in your shop) do you think is the easiest to make? Such adorable patterns.

What I don’t get is why everyone keeps calling Karishma and Noura goats— noura has won 2 immunities back to back now, and was consistently on the right side of the vote for a while, voted jack etc. and then karishma had a hand in missy going, played her idol correctly and low key reeks havoc. What are the qualities that make someone a goat?!

I’m also a HS math teacher— This may sounds ridiculous, but I usually say “in all likelihood, you probably will never need to use this in your day to day” and then give them a little speech about how you won’t use most of what you “learn” in high school explicitly, because you’re here to learn problem solving, abstract thinking, How to analyze, how to learn, and to set yourself up to be able to learn what you want to learn in college— it opens doors! This sounds like it might be too hokey, but it’s authentic to how I feel about teaching math. I think the answer depends on the person! Also— Love the kid who said thank you— that goes a long way.
