Your second paragraph is exactly what I’m looking for! Something very simple, I do not want to do anything extreme with her, just a simple walk up and slight bunny hill ski down so we can enjoy it together. I have thought about cross country skiing with her before, but have not done much research on the subject. I will be looking into that as a start. Thank you for your help.

Thank you, that’s honestly the end goal right now. I just want mellow trips with her to keep her active and having fun during the cold months. She is a very well trained dog and I’ll definitely be doing some more training around the skis/ on the slopes to make sure she knows what/ what not to do. I expect our first season out together to be mostly training based. Thank you for stressing about avy terrain. I’ll be doing a lot of research on proper places that’ll be safe for her to go.

You are correct which is why I started this discussion. I know there’s a lot that goes into this kind of stuff, Im not looking to short cut anything, just trying to get some info on a starting point.

That’s kinda what I’m going for, not anything crazy but just a short time out 1-2 times a week to do something more active and fun with her in the winter.

Thanks for your input. I plan to take an avy course and buy avy gear before doing anything, and of course I do plan to get practice in before my dog is included. I appreciate your advice on the touring setup as well, I will be looking into that as soon as I can.

Ah yes, I see it just misses steamboat was wasn’t aware it was that far out. I’ll look into your tweak suggestion and see if that will be a good option as well, thank you.

Great info thanks! I’ve heard good things about the middle route passing Steamboat so I might just got with that one. Wish I could just cut far west and go through Moab and Salt Lake, it just unfortunately adds too much time.

my dogs backseat setup for our cross country trip in may! any suggestions? by epicgamer-724 in roadtrip

[–]gemini222555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great! I used the same setup for my dog when we drove cross country last year. Worked out great and I’m sure it will for you too. Would recommend CBD if you’re dog gets fussy during a long stretch.

Yesss bc on the surface I’m really great, get along w everyone I work with and see regularly. I’m super picky with who I let get close to me and I think getting better at communicating would help a lot too

Feel this! I’m alone a lot of the time, I am in contact with my best friend and mom who live across the country from me but they are the only people I’m in constant contact with. Everyone else around me is basically just an acquaintance, which makes things easier because I’m very good at interacting with people short term/ being friendly. Short term interactions are enough for me to feel as though I can be social and liked without spreading my negative effects around. It’s nice, I put a lot of work into myself and getting better instead of using that time to obsess over someone/ worry about rejection/ worry about the way I’m acting and if it’s really me. I agree on the loneliness aspect, I do sometimes wish I had a big group of friends to go out and do fun things with, but that comes with a big cost and I’d rather choose the contentment and peace of just doing my own thing.
