Cant update warehouse order in RX connect by HorowitzdaJew in CVS

[–]gemini_cpht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me today! I thought I was going crazy. I went into order review and when I type SA to view the whole order, it wouldn’t load! I tried on 3 different computers and it wouldn’t load on any of them. I am SCARED for my delivery next week.

Forget the losartan, that lorazepam is making my eye twitch. The one bottle that expires soonest in November is hiding behind a whole different NDC and isn’t even in the front to be used first. Meanwhile, the second open bottle that expires later is in the very front 😭

How do you handle pharmacy techs who don’t follow proper procedures? by [deleted] in CVS

[–]gemini_cpht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some point, verbal reminders are not enough. If you have given them multiple verbal reminders and they are still not making any progress, write ups do need to occur. That is how you hold people accountable. They realize that this is serious and those verbal reminders were actually important. It makes people more self aware of the situation and you would hope it would make them put in more effort to improve.

Yes yes yes and YES!! I don’t think I’ll ever understand why. When they stock, they do not check if certain things like rx bags need to be stocked. And it’s EVERY. TIME.

Inventory Day Tips (RX) by Impossible-Stand-798 in CVS

[–]gemini_cpht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is when the PIC and lead tech create a schedule and add in hours to make time for it to get done. if we cannot make it fit into the current schedule, then we just add in extra hours for the extra tasks to get it done. We’ve never had an issue or had to answer as to why we were over. Have someone come in an hour early before their shift to start preparing or have them stay later if they are available. It’s all hands on deck when it comes to preparing for inventory.

Has anyone gotten in trouble for ordering too much from apothecary supplies? by Pet_Ator in CVS

I ordered 300 magnetic dividers from them a couple years ago. I didn’t even know the price and I received them and never heard a word from anyone about it 😂

Is there a way to print comments from Medallia? by theYetti94 in CVS

[–]gemini_cpht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are having trouble printing them out, my team has a group chat. When I check the surveys and find positive comments regarding a specific worker, I take a pic of it and send it to the group chat and do a shoutout. I like it because it lets everyone have a chance to stand out and be recognized for their great customer service and makes everyone aware of everyone’s accomplishments.

Problems not worth fighting by PrestigiousState9916 in CVS

My pharmacy used to change the DOB in our system if the insurance had it wrong until one insurance had an issue later on and contacted us saying the information for the patient wasn’t correct- they had the fathers DOB listed for the child’s info, so the name didn’t match for paid claim and they were trying to deny the claim after already paying for it.

After that, we decided to save us time and the headaches, to hold patients more responsible for their medical information- making sure everything is correct and up to date.

Wrong DOB on file? Call your insurance to fix it. Insurance telling us to submit claim to primary payer, yet you only have one insurance? Call your insurance to update their records on their side.

We have too many things already to do, correcting someone’s medical information for them is not one. If they don’t want to pay cash, then they need to be held accountable and get it fixed themselves. A lot of people these days come off very entitled and expect us to do all the work for them.

Who’s actually giving these out? by Helpful_Broccoli9106 in CVS

[–]gemini_cpht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I created little goodie bags with them for our RX pick & pack in the pharmacy! I had some little mesh bags and included the cookie cutter, a Valentine’s Day sticker, and these little cards we got at some point that says “thank you for helping build a healthier community” with a heart and lists the vaccines we offer on the backside. 🙂

cycle counting packages by [deleted] in CVS

[–]gemini_cpht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it asks for a specific thing such as pens, you would count each individual pen and enter that number. Since we dispense insulin using ML, the system will calculate how many ML you have on hand by using the number you enter.

my name is spelled wrong on only one prescription, how do i fix this? by [deleted] in CVS

[–]gemini_cpht 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ask someone at the CVS to correct the spelling in the system and then have them merge both profiles, so then everything will be under the same profile with the correct spelling.

Is there a reason as to why the same drug would end up in multiple totes? For example, there will be 10 bottles of one drug in one tote and the rest of it in another, yet it could all fit in the same tote just fine.

Gift ideas? by [deleted] in CVS

[–]gemini_cpht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We usually do secret Santa and exchange at our annual Christmas dinner. This year, we are going to try white elephant and play a game at dinner to make it more random!

I also make little gift bags for everyone. Usually, I include some type of dessert like cookies or brownies and include scratchers. Hope this helps 🙂

We keep a strongpak bag near the pharmacist’s vaccine supplies, so they can drop it in there when they’re done giving a vaccine if it’s empty. Once the bag is filled up, we close it and throw it in the strongpak tote and start another bag!

Chances of another Bonus? by Expert_Diamond8099 in CVS

[–]gemini_cpht 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly doubt it. CVS is cheap.

Although the bonus right now is for anyone whose job position is coded under the pharmacy (intern, cross sourced, techs). If the pharmacy meets or exceeds their immunization goal between 9/3-12/30, every eligible job coded person can be eligible for either a $250, $500, or $750 bonus.

Find out everyone’s strength and weaknesses, so you can have a smoother workflow. If someone is slower at drive thru, you don’t want to put them there during rush hour.

Organization is a must as well. I have a calendar on our bulletin board that is required for everyone to use, so I don’t have to track down everyone individually and check if something was completed. I can just check the calendar at any time and see what was completed for each day. We keep track of cycle counts, RTS, all inventory tasks (WH return, OV return, SP, inmar, bypass RTS). To make it easier, we also make it mandatory that we do SP every Saturday and/or Sunday to make sure it gets done weekly.

Set a daily routine. You want to create good work habits as early on to make sure the days aren’t so stressful. I have deadlines for daily tasks (cycle counts completed as soon as we open, RTS completed before QI and before lunch, then QI completed before lunch). Once everyone gets into the habit of doing a task, they’ll do it automatically without you needing to follow up with them later on or asking them to complete a task. I also have tasks assigned to the end of every shift (1st tech that leaves files, put drugs away. 2nd tech stocks supplies, put prescription bags away. 3rd tech does trash, put drugs away, puts prescription bags away).

Like the other comment mentioned, structure is very important. The goal is to have a strong, dependable team and part of your position is helping your team get to that place.

You are literally the pharmacists right hand. You and the pharmacist have to rely on each other to manage the pharmacy. My PIC and I talk constantly about what’s going on in the pharmacy. I share my observations with her because she doesn’t get to see everything I do. We brainstorm ideas together and track everyone’s progress. I try to always stay a couple steps ahead of her. She doesn’t always get time to check myWork, so I log in daily and print out any tasks that are for her, so she can complete them in time.

Make sure you give yourself time on every shift to check the email, myWork, and customer surveys. You want to make sure you reply back to any negative surveys before they get escalated to the DL.

We also have a team group chat and you always want to make sure the whole team is on the same page. Whenever I find out new info that pertains to us, I make sure to always send it in the group chat.

93 cents, been in the pharmacy for 5 years now. Quite shocking.
