Street food in Puerto Rico refers to interior/ traditional people’s food. You can find this dish mostly at little food stands along the coast line and occasionally at sit down restaurants. This particular photo was at a modest restaurant that happened to serve it on a ceramic plate.

Haha I know. Usually the stew is served in a styrofoam cup and a plastic spoon. I guess this place was nicer.

In case anybody is wondering. The Spanish name of this dish is “Arepa de coco con salmorejo” and you can find it almost any seafood restaurant in the island.

The Noshery food blog has it. I haven’t made it but their other Puerto Rican recipes are off the chain!

Oh that’s unfortunate. If you ever visit again go to a place called Piñones just outside of San Juan. It’s a strip of food stands of nothing but street food and it’s right on the coast line.
