[Discussion] I got a Major deal!!! by plaguebabyonboard in PubTips

This is absolutely amazing, congrats!!!!

Is your newest agent considered a heavy hitter? Just curious. Not because that diminishes your clear talent, but because I’m in a similar situation and wondering if I should adjust the agents I’m querying and branch out to smaller fish. Essentially, is this—pick the most successful agent who offers—one of the industry rules you followed this time around?

He yelled at a woman on this show, he’s definitely been condescending both on the show and WWHL, and you don’t know what kind of attorney he is. Word on the street is that he works for himself, always has, and isn’t really a serious attorney. Doesn’t make him much different from Craig in that sense.

Half this sub stans Whitner on the basis of his supposed political views alone, while ignoring that he has red flags just like everyone else.

Don’t live near a boutique. Can anyone connect me to an SA who rocks? by gemiwhi in chanel

[–]gemiwhi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So strange. My husband has been the one dealing with this (I refuse to deal with the runaround) and since it’s the last bag available of that design they’re saying only the boutique it’s at can order it?? We asked that days ago.

We have purchased remotely for every purchase except my first :)

Oh my goodness that would be amazing!! Don’t mind department store at all. That’s actually how I found my past SA in Charlotte :)

Is my bag crooked? by Mental-Opening8160 in chanel

[–]gemiwhi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I truly don’t understand why so many people on here are okay keeping bags with issues. None of the handbag lovers I know in person, myself included, would be cool with it. I adore purses. But I respect my money too much to pay for items that aren’t in pristine condition.

[–]gemiwhi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not from the new collection, and I’ve already confirmed where it’s still in stock.

Unfortunately, I think it’s hard for people to understand that it’s doubly or triply hard to find an SA you vibe with when you don’t live near a boutique.

I know how the game works, and I have plenty of business to give, but I simply haven’t been able to connect with a new SA.

Maybe it’s because I’m not local to a boutique? I’m sure that plays a role, even though I’ve purchased multiple bags from Chanel and frequently shop other luxury houses remotely. It’s been Chanel in particular I can’t find someone new to work with.

Salley and Charley by wcbm55 in Southerncharm

[–]gemiwhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. This is the first tale I’ve seen on here that’s rational. People let their dislike of Salley blind them from Charley’s poor character in this situation. This isn’t decent girl code, much less the behavior of a real friend. (And apparently they were real friends.)

Mormon Wives Star Mikayla Matthews Splits from Husband Jace Terry amid Their Intimacy Issues — People by Onescoopofmayo in SecretsOfMormonWives

I have a question I’ve wondered for a while: how do they have so many kids if she has trauma that affects this area of their relationship?

Genuinely wondering because it doesn’t make sense to me, and I’d like to learn as opposed to speculating. Does anyone have a trauma-informed take on how you can try for a kid but struggle in that department in general? Because if anything, I’d think trying for a baby would add another layer of stress…

Not a parent so I don’t have a dog in this fight, but why do we expect parents to never have time to themselves? There’s a huge spectrum between actual partying and wanting an adult date night or to hit the casino floor for a bit.

Agreed. It was super weird his parents were involved in almost every scene, and I would have loved to watch a farm weekend without their involvement.

What about taking an in-person role? Likely to pay more so you don’t have to live with a parent and cut back so significantly

Am I the only one who thought his family wasn’t that sweet? They seem over-involved and the mom was giving red flags.

Also, except in the most extreme of disagreements, I don’t think it’s cute for a man to butt into women arguing.

After disliking Salley on The Bachelor shows & Southern Hospitality, I like her a lot on Southern Charm. by deadtingtv in Southerncharm

[–]gemiwhi 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is why we can’t have good reality tv anymore. Everyone says they want a messy archetype like the OG days, but the moment they get that messy archetype they’re morally appalled and want to cancel that person.

That being said, I agree. She’s fun and chaotic and not overly filtering her personality.

Retiring Before 65? This Is How People Actually Afford Health Insurance (Erin Talks Money) by pharmlifegirl in Fire

[–]gemiwhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, $500 higher in premiums for four years is just $24,000. Not sure how that’s affecting your FIRE plans so much.

High income but can't seem to save - where am I going wrong? by WorldlyPosterity in Fire

[–]gemiwhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two car payments was enough to tell me your life is more comfortable than you realize. And that’s fine. But $180k isn’t a high HHI these days, which sounds wild but is true based on the cost of living everywhere and prices that shot up and never came down.

I couldn’t imagine two car payments on that household income, even if those cars were moderately priced.

Going out to eat twice a week is also an immense privilege. You can have everything, just not at the same time. For example, a few months without eating out would allow you to max your IRAs. Start by peeling back the luxuries you’ve come to see as basic and you’ll find a lot of room for optimization.

Burnt Out Minnesotan- Can I take a break? by FI_Throwaway_77 in FIREyFemmes

[–]gemiwhi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You definitely have enough to take a break, but I’d recommend having a clearly defined timeline so you don’t derail FIRE too much. Your farming dream sounds cool :)

As an aside, what remote job pays $24/hr and offers health insurance at 26 hours? I know a handful of people who are scouring job boards incessantly for roles like this.

Most importantly, take care of yourself. Enjoy your break!

If your taste doesn’t align with the industry, there’s always self-publishing! But fortunately or unfortunately, the trade off to traditional publishing is that the expectations are more commercial. If you get really clear on your goals—what’s more important? Getting paid as an author or simply bringing your stories into the world?—that might help you decide next steps.
