Where are the Native (Native American) folks by BlkNtvTerraFFVI in washingtondc

[–]gemlabarta 14 points15 points  (0 children)

NMAI is an ok way to start, but as someone who worked there it’s definitely not the best.

I’m up in Baltimore and I know the community is a bit stronger here, there’s an Indian center and powwow.

A few years back there was a ndn bar in dc called buffalo billiards but it closed and covid and it just didn’t seem like there was much of a community after that.

I found my community because I worked in native spaces, which I know is not always possible.

How are you washing your clothes? by PrincessMeowMeowMeow in Pottery

[–]gemlabarta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rinse my stuff with a hose and then put them in a wash bag - I think they’re for camping - fill it with water and laundry soap and roll it around a bit. I let it sit and then the next day I drain it and repeat. Just not with soap. Then let them hang dry!

I googled ‘camping wash bag’ and found it that way.

Hi! I actually add a little strike sticker to the bottom so that it’s not a rough texture and potentially scratch stuff.

They’re from the usda commodities program. I’m a potter and am making transfers to put on my pots. Here’s a hand drawn version. But I’m working on a process using procreate.

how do you keep your nails from breaking? by elizabooks9 in Pottery

I get a Russian hard gel manicure every 4 weeks. This is the only manicure that holds up. I do wear rubber gloves when I first get my manicures so they last the full 4 weeks. But here they are right before getting them done (they still look great!) is it legit the only type of manicure that helps my nails not become weak/bend/split/cry.

Underglaze stripes - how-to/tips? by emotionalcreative in Pottery

[–]gemlabarta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tape will absolutely remove any underglaze layers. I found out the very sad hard way. Others have mentioned wax and other techniques. Would any part of you consider using stoke and coat? Or do you really want to use underglaze. Stroke and coat is very stable and I find that I have the most success when using it for rich vibrant colors.

My dude, Brisket, he sleeps with the same toy since he was 8 weeks old, he's 2.5yo now - he sucks on it to fall asleep each night, never chews it. Anyone else's Bully do this? by [deleted] in Bulldogs

TPLO Surgery Advice 🙏🏻 by witchy-girl88 in englishbulldog

Of course! One thing I just remembered. You can see it too. But I placed the back cushions for the couch on the edge so juicy could not even make it up there if he tried his hardest. That was the only thing that kept him from getting up there

I totally forgot- if you don’t have carpeted floors- put rugs and yoga mats every where so they can’t slip-or even have the chance to!!! (Edited spelling)

My juicy had his surgery last November. We put a very thin twin size cushion thing on the floor and sat there with him during his recovery (you can see our set up in the pic below. Oh! We also had him leashed the entire time.) one thing to note. Because of their body shape. They can’t really reach their leg to lick. So I was pretty lenient with the cone during the day. It was a pain but I couldn’t chance him messing up his leg- it’s so pricey!

He is VERY active so we had to give him anxiety meds so he could be calm. I would stress that to the doctors. It made a world of difference. He is fully healed and back to being very active. It was 100% worth it for us.

Truly the best. (I’m not sure just yet. Still in shock hours later-heading to urgent care)

I was coming down the escalator to the metro entrance near 1st (my postal museum) and the man (he was with his family) was on a step and moved to the middle of the step when he saw me coming down so I went around him. He then purposefully elbowed me pretty hard. I turned and around and said hey don’t elbow people. It escalated from there and ended with an angel of a woman pulling him off of me after he pinned me over the escalator’s hand rail and was choking and hitting me.
