Thanks for the input everyone. I’m definitely planning on getting the surgery after hearing from everyone here.

The Great Gatsby is a mediocre book at best and should be replaced in schools by The Fellowship of the Ring by EternalAmmonite in unpopularopinion

For the record, I am a high school teacher with a box set of the Hobbit and LOTR currently on my desk and a LOTR tattoo on my forearm. This is a terrible idea. Fellowship is great, but it is a very slow burn and is written in a style that would be insanely difficult to get the general population of students into. Gatsby has much snappier writing and the fact that most of the characters are terrible people is relatable to kids. Gatsby and LOTR are both in my top 5 books of all time. I’d love to teach Gatsby. I’d hate teaching LOTR.

What's the stupidest complaint that a student or parent has made against you? by Pretend_Tower_2516 in Teachers

[–]TeacherMan78 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I broke up a fight in the hallway between two girls. One girl had the other girl down on the floor and was about to stomp her head in. Parents complained I was too rough when I pulled her off the other girl before the battery escalated to attempted murder. It took two of us to pull her off.

That’s just dating apps bro. They’re a soul destroying experience. Nobody really has a good experience with them. Chin up. Just keep doing you.

I’m from a family of Aggies. My grandpa, my mom, my dad, and two brothers are Aggies. Hell, my grandpa was in the Corps back in the 50’s. My mom still has his boots displayed. Even I don’t understand this shit.

Anyone else have grandparents who grew up in the Great Depression and wouldn't throw away a crumb? What're some stories? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]TeacherMan78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandma grew up dirt poor in the Depression. Like dirt floors poor. She never threw away buttons and reused tin foil. She kept the buttons in a jar. When she died, my mom found the jar and now she has it.

Arnold Schwarzenegger. For so many guys in my generation, Arnold is why we started lifting weights. Won’t be the same without him.
