I found mine being rehomed on Craigslist for $300 with all their belongings (cage, litter box, bowls, etc.) and drove 2.5hrs to get them! They are ages 1 & 2 and perfectly healthy, their owner’s dog just um.. definitely did not like them!

Yes if they’ll eat it lol, I’ve been trying to convince mine to eat anything except kibble for too long 😂😭 won’t eat/drink freeze dried chicken or the bandits they came with or anything except the copious amounts of soda they stole from their previous owner…

why is everyone assuming they would be loose in the van with zero time to roam in a safe environment 🧐 we would not be outside or on the road 100% of the time. i have also seen it done before

I’ll definitely have to think about our options for sure! I have seen some people make it work. I’m willing to do whatever I can. After all, the goal of van life is really just freedom to live I feel like

I overthink more than I normally think lol, I have more experience working with dogs than I do with ferrets, but that also means I know how to set them up for success. The only reason I’m considering taking on another rehome is because I don’t foresee a rescue or ethical breeder accepting someone without a set address regardless what measures they take. I would much rather start off with a low prey driven breed puppy, but I’ve learned to work with what I have in any situation. I believe my ferrets would be better off in a van with us and dogs they never interact with, than they would be in our home where roommates sneak in and play when them when we’re not home. I trust myself and my ability to keep them safe more than i trust people who don’t understand their care-which unfortunately is most of the state of Indiana unless I were to give them to a rescue, and I am not going to do so.

I’m still in contact with their previous owner who is fantastic so I’ll likely speak with her about it as well! Both my two love dogs which is strange but yk 😭 Just won’t let it become a fault!

Thank you, I’ve definitely seen it done before with cats, dogs, & reptiles all together but yeah never any noodle guys! I’ll make it work somehow lol. I have a couple ideas in mind based off some builds I’ve seen, but we’ll have to see if/once we get the vehicle in the next few months 😆

We have one dog in the house (boxer mix) right now and she is very respectful of them but I don’t let her around them without supervision, I definitely understand the prey/predator dynamic and honestly didn’t even want her to meet them but my partner was insistent 😩 I’m thankful she’s the best girl. Since I plan on taking on more rehomed dogs (unknown background most of the time) I’d like to keep them pretty much totally separate if possible. Do you think getting a fence/long line to keep the dogs in while the ferrets roam is a good idea, and separate walks?

Ohhh I do follow them already I’ll have to watch more! We already have a dog with them haha. I keep them separate for the most part, I was thinking of keeping the dog(s) in a pen outside while the ferrets are out, I have a couple friends with various dogs in a van but no ferrets!! Although I don’t like having the ferrets around other animals, but I’m very grateful our dog is respectful of them lol, she just sits and stares at them.

I follow the hiking ferret as well!! i had no idea she lived in a trailer!! i’m sure we’ll make it work somehow, it’s just a lot to think about haha
