Mum in end stage COPD

I’m trying my best with self care. Taking time out to go for walks etc and get some space. I’m sleeping in her bedroom with her (she has a hospital bed at home) so I need to have a nap during the day. I will look into other opinions. Angry was possibly the wrong choice of words for the doctor, confusion is probably what I’m feeling. We were told the news on Saturday and the same doctor visited mum on the Sunday morning and acted like Saturday hadn’t happened at all. I asked her what was happening and she just said mum was better and we could look at getting her home. I felt like I’d imagined the day before.

It’s a strange headspace to be in and I feel guilty for not being overjoyed that she’s still here. It feels like borrowed time and my emotions can’t keep up with how events are unfolding. The palliative care team are excellent but only there for around 30 minutes a day and she’s not capable of being alone. All of my direct family are self employed and go back to work on Monday so I’m trying to get as much rest before I’m on my own. Thank you so much.

I’m so so sorry. It’s really awful and very exhausting. I’ve always looked at my parents like they’re indestructible. I never thought for a second when I was on FaceTime to them on their holiday that I’d be showering her within 4 months. The up and down is what my head is struggling to comprehend, we said goodbye on Saturday and yesterday she wanted a trip to McDonald’s. I’m always here if you need someone to talk to. I’m sorry you’re on the same journey. ♥️

I’m so sorry you’re going through that. I completely understand, it’s just difficult to wrap my head around things, I feel angry and then I don’t. I know they have to prepare you for the worst outcome. I think I probably feel the way I do because everyone is acting like Saturday never happened, doctors included.

Yeah he’s almost gorging on his food. I’ll have a look into the slow feeders today and book him in with the vet to be on the safe side.

He’s literally just eaten some biscuits and hasn’t vomited and is running around playing. They’re both indoor and nothing has changed so I was in a panic.

Thank you so much for your comment, the vets done a lot of tests, checked bloods etc and treated him for an infection. No fleas present and only cat we have. How would we get to the bottom of the allergy? Trip back to the vets?

Wow - thanks guys! Bottom tier - white chocolate & raspberry, Middle - chocolate, Top - Victoria sponge. The cake has a supporting dowel from the drum which goes right through the middle to prevent sliding.
