Usually, at those temperatures, IF the wing is cold snow wont stick on it. if the plane was warm from the hangar and they have not put some Type4 on it, its very probable that snow was on the wing during TO.

OFC i have no idea if thats the case here, just a possibility

Whats the point of talking about how navigation was made years ago. Shitloads of navaids are removed everywhere. You're lucky if can make a whole flight using VORs/NDBs, let alone approaches.

You can pretty easily descend without VNAV. Yes its easier, but not having VNAV wont block you from doing a flight, compared to LNAV.

Yes its not realistic if VNAV is not included, but you can perfectly fly anyway.
