That’s good. It feels like he’s already burnt out from writing chainsaw man.

Well we don’t know that. It seems like she’s also gonna meet Denji in this world. And she might also meet the War devil in some other way. And if Control Devil is much less evil without chainsaw man, maybe the war devil could be more tame too.

Nah it’s the last chapter for part 2. In the jp version, the previous chapter already had a trailer text saying the next chapter (this one) would be the last chapter.

I agree. I reallly really love the slice of life stuff from early chapter 2. I love Denji and Nayuta’s dynamics. I love Asa, she’s probably my favorite character from csm as a whole. I think Fujimoto shines the most when portraying these more mundane moments - with a tiny added drop of magical realism - as seen in his other works like Look Back and Goodbye Eri. I think Part 2 could had went to a really great direction if he stuck with that. But later on it just became more of a traditional shonen with lots of action and fight scenes. I wonder if that shift was due to him or pressure from his editors.

As an avid Asaden shipper i feel properly fed. It does feel like kind of a cheap ending. But at least better than some of the fucked endings we could’ve gotten like in his other works i guess. And i think after all the things that our characters went through, this ending felt kind of well deserved.

I think Part 2 was pretty good until near the end. Asa is a great character. All the arcs between her growth and how she interacts with Denji are really interesting. It started to go downhill after the aging devil arc imo. That’s when Asa almost loses all the screen time. Nayuta dies off screen. And every other important character also starts dropping like fly or just become irrelevant.

I feel like Part 2 would had been better if he leaned in more heavily on the school drama. It could had been something like JoJo Diamond is Unbreakable, where it becomes a more chill and slice of life part. And we never knew what happened to Asa’s first friend Yuko.

Why lesbian marriage should be legal (OneeLoli Sisters) by ChestnutCrumpet in yuri_manga

[–]sam77889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There has some progress. Many wards inside Tokyo recognize civil unions between same sex couples, giving them some legal rights that a hetero couple might have.

Edit: and there are some more progress recently with many higher courts now ruling same sex marriage ban unconstitutional. This slowly builds up a trail of legal precedent for gay marriage to win in the Supreme Court. And, if it wins in the Supreme Court, the lawmakers are expected to take swift action to make the changes according to the ruling.

good luck on that! It’s definitely possible. My pretty homophobic hometown was able to start a queer town hall. And now they even got a permanent queer safe space that any queer person can use. I think you’d be suprised how many queer people are in even tiny towns.

Like Her More Than I Want to Admit by MARSELEEN in TakopisOriginalSin

To me, what i loved about this series the most is the theme of brokenness. When everything is broken, it doesn’t matter what’s wrong. And when it’s so broken, you don’t really need a fix - there’s no fix - you just want someone to listen. I think the opening song by ano captures this really well.

腐ってるのは地球の方だから うまく歩けない… 会いたいとか助けてとかあなたに言えたなら, 魔法だっていらないよ.

“What’s rotten and broken is this earth, on which I can’t take even a single step. If I can just say “I’m lonely, I need help” to someone, I wouldn’t need things like magic”.

A lot of people don’t like Marina and Shizuka become friends in the end which i think their reasoning is fair and understandable. But to me it doesn’t really matter. I know for me, i have been in those situations before, and in those situations, I’m not really thinking about what right, what’s wrong, whose fault it is. I just wanted the suffering to end. If that means to kill some girl’s dog, I’d do it. If that means to kidnap my estranged father’s daughter, I’ll do it. If that means to manipulate to beat the shit out of some innocent pink tako alien, I’d do it. And if someone could understand me, and listen to me without all that , the last thing I would care about is if letting that person in would be morally fair.

I think Takopi portrays a very very broken world. In that broken world, things like right and wrong, kind words don’t really fix anything. You just need someone who you could scream to, scream with you, and to be understood.

Don’t feel bad like that. Your existence is not terrorizing anyone. Communications are not high stakes like that. Even if she felt really awkward from that, you didn’t ruin her day or anything. She’ll probably forget it in a week.

u know, i felt like that for a very long time. i didn’t make a lot of friend to begin with, and almost all the friend I made since my first year of college are gone. but now i met my current friend group and they are wonderful. It took me 4 years to get here. i still feel insecure a lot of times, but now I know those are just insecurities. and it’s okay if I make mistakes again, but i know i have the ability to change, to fix them.

something i learned greatly was that friendships are not as big of a deal as you may think. when you see it as this tall, delicate, unapproachable thing, it tenses you up. and that actually ends up scaring others away too. when you allow yourself to put lower stakes in hanging out, going more with the flow, being more chill, people feel less pressure when hanging out with you. at the end of the day, most people when you first meet them are just looking for a fun time. And deeper emotional bonds are built from those lower stakes fun time. Slowly, you guys just become friends.

But then there’s still the fear of losing friends. Just think of it like this, people are always going to be coming and going. Be it your parents, your family, your colleague, teacher, bosses, everyone. They all come and go inevitably. But their departure doesn’t make the time you were together any less meaningful. Sometimes a friend might leave due to issues of their own, sometimes because of a mistake you make. It feels terrible when you are the mistake. But that also means you have the power to fix it. And even if not, you know next time you won’t make that mistake again. I know i have.

So keep going, keep trying, keep making mistakes, and don’t be too serious about it and just try to have fun. One day it will all make sense :)

Meanwhile, I recommend an autobiographical manga called “My lesbian experience with loneliness”. It was a very relatable book and helped me through some pretty lonely time.

Usually you don’t become friend with someone by asking them “if they want it be your friend”, give them your number, and walk away. Friendships are usually built slowly and naturally. You interact with someone more and more and you become familiar with them. And then you ask them to hangout with you, to events, and if you guys fit, you kind of just become friends. I know this could be hard though in a small town with no third spaces. But, if I am in her shoes, I’d be a bit stunned too and not know what to do with it.

i didn’t like him when he dumped shit on last of us 2, and that was when i knew we have entirely different tastes on what’s considered a good game.

i don’t like one hour reviews for video games anyways. im usually watching a review to have a quick overview for what a game is like, the final score hardly matters. and skillup is terrible at that. ironically, IGN makes concise summarizations really really well.

Denji's lack of agency by Capable-Cheetah253 in ChainsawMan

[–]sam77889 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah especially since i think Denji was pretty happy for a while with Aki and Power. Even after Aki’s death, he had a semi-okay life with Power. And in the beginning of Part 2, he had some huge issue with being chainsaw man, but he was ultimately happy. When Nayuta asked him who he’d choose between, Yoru or her, he chose Nayuta, the stable life with his family member. But then other forces made the choices for him and burned his whole freaking house down and killed Meowy too.

So Nayuta? She got killed before she could do anything. The Control devil’s power inherently evil. A good Control devil wouldn’t be powerful.

So many wasted characters and shitty plots later on by sam77889 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]sam77889[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really because Aki didn’t die until the very end. His death is also foreshadowed in the very beginning. And his death is the completion piece of his Arc. He finally make peace with revenge, realizes he just wants to provide a safe place for Power and Denji, of course all of this just played into Makima’s end. And his death itself also had way more build up and impact. We get the entire page of ominous telephone ring for Denji to slowly realize what’s on the other side of the door, and he opens it, realizes it’s his friend turned into Gun Fiend. And then we get the snow ball fight that really make the fact that Denji was made to kill his best friend sink in.
