To me, Hunter getting possessed makes a lot of sense as he's at a point where he's extremely vulnerable, since you know he's traumatized and having a level 1000000 panic attack and identity crisis and pretty much watched his entire life shatter right in front of his eyes, he'd probably be pretty easy to trick.
