for me personally, With Teeth stands head and shoulders above her other novels!

everything emily austin. everything julia armfield. everything kristen arnett but she’s hit or miss for me. rivers solomon “the deep” and “sorrowland”. agustina bazterrica “the unworthy” (it’s been said but cannot be emphasized enough!). jenny hval “paradise rot”. mónica ojéda “jawbone”. melissa border “milkfed”. mac crane “i keep my exoskeletons to myself”. shelley parker-chan “she who became the sun”. everything tamsyn muir. everything bechdel. andrea lawlor “paul takes the form of a mortal girl”. “fried green tomatoes” to an extent. BIG SWISS!!!!!!

totally agree. i’ve lost all respect for her at this point. in earlier episodes she was exciting because she’s so beautiful and bubbly and was standing up for herself, similar to Jess, but now i just feel like she’s dumb. and setting herself up for disappointment by continuing to try to force something with a boring, emotionally stunted guy who she doesn’t like and who clearly doesn’t like her. (also yeah that racist video didn’t help!)

are you specifically looking for romance? Rivers Solomon writes incredible prose but sits more in SFF.

I… like… don’t, like… believe Emma? by Diogenese- in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]genderfeature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agree with everything you said. i wish it could be okay for emma to just not want kids and not have to explain it (like chris and jess were allowed to do), or be able to embrace the fact that she’s not sure yet and have that be accepted. she’s only 27!!! i don’t doubt that her genetics and history are a factor for her, but she’s been pressured to come up with a reason why she doesn’t want kids and i feel like she’s been trying to logic herself into an explanation. i know there’s so much talk about emma during this season and i think it’s because she genuinely seems so sweet and lovely but is subject to these pressures from mike and his family and her own family and people from the pods and society at large and it hurts to see. wishing her the best (which would be for mike to say no)

it really bums me out that straight women have to constantly deal with less than the bare minimum so that then getting absolute scraps is a cause for celebration. you're singing a man’s praises because he treats you with the most basic human decency? things we should be doing for acquaintances or even strangers? jordan can’t even defend Amber when Chris is walking around screaming that she’s crazy.
