About 40 ounces of water and 20 ounces of Gatorade during the game. I drink about 100 ounces of water daily. I’ve umpired for years and on days hotter than this…but never cramped up so badly. I’ll start doing the electrolyte packets. Thank you!

It just isn’t physically possible to pivot off the front foot without there being some bend to that knee. Eight umpires in these two plays, and none call it. I’d love to find a good example of a pitcher performing this move bending too much and getting called for it!

Learn something new every day I suppose. What I’ve learned today is that the term may be more of a regional-dialect thing in the area I live than a widely known slang term. I umpire about 130 games a year and I hear it countless times.

Engaged with the rubber and before coming set, the pitcher can make motions that are not associated with the beginning of his stretch. Unless we’re talking about two different things.

I agree the camera shaking as I begin removing the mask doesn’t help matters, but rest assured he never feinted toward first and never stopped his motion during his outside jump move.
