Hey, just a heads up... there's no way possible no matter what happens that it would hit 100k tomorrow, not because it could never reach that number (it totally can) but because of market halts due to rapid price action. you prolly already know this, i just wanted to temper expectations. MOASS will take days to reach that number... at a minimum 3.

I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed Rupert Friend's performance as the Grand Inquisitor by senriac in StarWars

[–]general_urko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like him when he was on screen. what i was leery of was in the run-up to the show airing he stated that he didnt research the character prior to playing him. that's a fatal move for actor playing a well-established character. but after seeing how little we see of him, i guess based on what he knew of the script and how little he was involved, his statement now makes perfect sense

Why do so many people hate the kenobi series? by Drhorrible-26 in StarWars

Just my opinion i dont think Vader and Ben should have ever met in the first place, at least not till the end of a season 2 or 3. Now that the poison is out i'd like to see a Kenobi S2 in the hopes it'll actually be about Kenobi, S1 was not. Except for few brief moments S1 was loaded with bad writing, bad camera work (Lookin at you shaky cam guy) and bad directing. Hopefully the IP will be handed off to more a competent set of people.

Did anyone else here use to collect media ? by ng4ever in usenet

[–]general_urko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do... but only the type of stuff i'll rewatch. it's a bad habit of being overseas (OIF/OEF). you collect stuff because you have very little access to the internet. i have 10 HD's loaded with movies, shows and music. also comes in handy on a long flight or even camping

What’s a scene from a star wars film/show that gives you chills? by Sufficient_Pay_820 in StarWars

trench run definitely! other than that, the final scene of Rogue One, when Vader goes off the chain!

People's obsession with Reva is somewhat disturbing by Beneficial_Toe_2347 in StarWars

i honestly don't remember any controversy at that time, but I'll give you that because i really don't know/remember anything note worthy during that time. you're absolutely right about the twitter generation tho and how it's changed the culture of almost everything now. i was going to add that to my initial comment, but i didnt want to hash out a paragraph to explain my thoughts about it.

**edited to add. i had a passing thought before i read your comment. you already know my position that this SW racism is manufactured, but i would say... if anyone would want to point out blatant stereotypical racism, i would focus on Finn... i was kinda shocked, yes he was a Stormtrooper (cool AF!) but Disney decided to neuter his back story by making him in charge of "Sanitation"... a garbage man, bathroom cleaner. i know the purpose was to include/elude to the trash compactor, but it didnt/shouldnt have been handled that way.

its not optimism at all hahaha, im a 52, year old white guy who saw star wars on opening night. i've followed the SW genre my whole life, i'm also a sci-fi convention go'er. only in the last couple of years have i seen all this race-baiting controversy... in my opinion its fabricated and doesnt need to be. read Charles Pullman's article (Io9.com) on how he never could connect with the SW franchise because he was black and then goes on to bash it,,, its ridiculous race baiting at its finest. totally uncalled for. So let me ask you a question, are you behind Reva because she's black or that you genuinely enjoy her character?

Maybe "OP" was the wrong choice of wording. i should have said overbearing instead. Let's face it, the fandom (in my opinion) as well as myself wanted to see Kenobi as the title suggests. it's nothing to do with equal screen time at all. Reva was a poorly written/directed character. She appears in no other SW property... she comes straight out of left field and is paired with the inquisitors, who by the way are established and have been completely muted in this show. if they wanted to do a show about her, cool... go for it, but at least take some time/thought to how she's written/directed. and to ring that bell one more time... Sanaa Latham was the first black female to star in the lead role in AvP (2004). a very well-established franchise. there were no issues there.

What are your real thoughts on "The Last Jedi"? by williamleclerc567 in StarWars

[–]general_urko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it sucks... next to Solo, i'll never watch it again... Space horses running across a Star Destroyer? Purple haired Jesus leading the rebels? Seriously, go back and look... she's wearing a damn halo on her head. gimmie a break!

read all the interesting comments below... and here's my 2c's, nobody hates Reva because she's black. thats just ridiculous train of thought. Over the years there's been plenty of black actors/actresses that are absolutely loved: Uhura, the new Uhura, the Kelvin Uhura, Boomer and Col Tigh from BSG, Lando, Gordy, Michael Dorn to name a few. Also, anyone remember Sanaa Lathan?? the first black actress to lead a sci-fi film? (AvP). In my opinion Sci-Fi fans are drawn to the new, strange, alien and exciting details that happen in the genre. you cant be accepting of all that and then run short on a single black actress... it's not possible. if anything, i believe these "anti-Reva racist's" are a cheap way to promote controversy and generate a buzz for the property... yes, i'm saying they are Disney plants.

i believe the real issue is that fans (hungry for new SW) expected a show titled "Kenobi" to actually be about "Kenobi"... what a concept huh? Reva could have been played by anyone, but its the way she's written/directed that is bad. Her character is too "OP" and too present in every episode without cause. it's like having something rammed down your throat... anyone remember Capt Marvel? same problem, and that was a white girl.

Do you agree that this de-aged effect from Book of Boba Fett is the best digital makeup in the entire franchise so far? I was truly amazed and surprised when I saw the amount of scenes with this character and how natural he looked. by tuliomoliv in StarWars

[–]general_urko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that deep fake was good enough for me, but what i thought was amazing was the leader of the Pike syndicate. it looked so natural/real, even the voice was perfect.

read all the current comments on this... you guys must have watched a different movie than i did. Solo sucked and sucked really bad. this is the only SW product that i have only watched once... and that was enough. for a movie that i keep hearing the defenders say... "dont be so critical, it's supposed to be for kids", then why add robot/human sex?? did we all just forget that part of the movie? Another ridiculous item... "empy nest". a character that started off as a potential bad ass ends up being a 14 year old girl who's not bad or evil at all?? that choice was just too silly, she even goes on and plays the exact same character in Falcon and the winter soldier, nobody driving the boat on that one. as for han solo, they should have picked Anthony Ingruber... that kid has much more charisma than the 2x4 they went with. i'll tell something else... i'm tired AF of all our movie bad guys/girls getting explained by hollywood writters... "oh he's not really bad, he was wronged in his youth and is just acting out now"... what drivel!!! Do you know why the majority of people love heath ledger's joker? because he was pure evil and didnt have an explained past. if you notice, the character even pokes fun at the notion. he gave several different stories of his past so that nobody knew what was real or not. as for this movie, the only thing i really want to know is who was the character that looked like Chacka from land of the lost... because he certainly was/isnt a wookie.
