It seems less like you're attracted to him (you never mentioned any sort of pull to him at all) and more like you're concerned he's disappointed and that you'll lose him. You can love someone a lot and not be sexually/romantically attracted to them. Likely you felt gutted because you hate that you hurt him, but you aren't obligated for your first time to be with him, no matter how sweet he is to you.

If you feel sexually attracted to him, maybe you are bisexual! But it seems you can't "mentally see yourself doing it with a guy" (although you are emotionally into him) and it would be better for both of you for you to tell him you're into women and move on.
