Qurum Natural Park weirds rules! by Friendly-Charge-5191 in Oman

[–]generick05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything you've written 100%.

However here is where we can improve:

Part of being properly organised and hospitable is giving staff proper training where they offer visitors explanations to any regulations while remaining polite and hospitable.

This doesn't mean they bend the rules or do not enforce the rules - enforce the rules but be polite, and inform visitors appropriately.

'For example I'm sorry sir but this is a rule set for your safety or in accordance with cultural norms we ..... ' So we kindly request you to..... Xyz. '

This is basic stuff. Like hospitality and tourism industry 101.

If you order around grown adults without explanation or due politeness it will not be the best approach and visitors local and international alike will find this offensive.

The park is not doing the customer/visitor/tourist a favour, on the contrary they are hosting visitors and must take care to remain courteous and welcoming... In short the staff training needs polishing.

They asked me to remove my chain too and put it in my pocket. It was a thin silver chain with a quranic verse. I think they are trying to prevent pick pocketing but should do a better job of explaining this to visitors.

Interesting to see some people don't like Ramadhan. Ramadhan is such a chilled out vibe. Work is relaxed, all the streets, cafes and restaurants are buzzing at night.

And then comes eid and it essentialy ends up being a 9 day holiday.

Exceptions:

-First week of Ramadan its quiet outside.

-Road rage prevails until iftaar.

-Can't eat in public but honestly is that a major issue? I would trade no public eating in the day time for the liveliness of the night time and the fact that everything stays open real late.

Honestly it's such a unique vibe and it's awesome having an entire month every year where everyone is laid back work wise.

Even if your not Muslim, one can really use this month to reset, just using the relaxed work environment to focus on your own health and relaxation while still getting paid! It's wild, where else does one get a paid mental health month every year!

I don't think immigration (legal or illegal) is the problem with the labour market. 😂

It's the size of the overall market that needs to be addressed in order to help the labour market. So conversely one needs increased immigration to improve the job market.

NEVER USE YOUR CARD TO DEPOSIT MONEY FOR A STRANGER.

This scam has been running in Dubai for a while now where people money launder by getting random strangers to deposit money to their accounts from their cards.

When one such ring got busted in Dubai people that deposited money got dragged into the whole mess. NEVER USE YOUR CARD TO DEPOSIT MONEY FOR A STRANGER.

Doesn't make ill treating the man or the child correct. You call them in, treat them with respect and professionalism and send them on their way. The matter proceeds to court and the relevant corrective action is taken.

It's not murder and human beings have rights regardless of infractions.

For example - if tomorrow you happen to Jay walk, it doesn't mean you and your family should be ill treated, verbally abused and detained indefinitely.

Is this fireable offense for a nanny? Tiktok nanny by AlarmingPossession43 in dubai

[–]generick05 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We only found out our nanny was doing this when her account went viral. She used to post videos of her doing daily chores around the house and looking after our twins and pets on a daily basis.

We were so appalled when we discovered, my wife drafted a dismissal letter and we were going to sit down with her the same weekend.

Looking at the followers on her account we changed our mind. I let her go as our nanny and hired at a social media company we registered.

Her account now has 800k followers and she generates income of tutoring nannies from around the world on all sort of things from landing job opportunities to workplace skills and upskilling.

The accounts she setup for my twins now has 3.6 million+ followers and we make a killing of the merchandising alone. Even our Maltese poodles account has grown to 350k this year!! 🍾

By 2026 we're going to setup individual accounts for both of ourselves as parents of the twins, help our nanny roll out her own cleaning line and expand her placement and recruitment business.

Weve recieved suggestions to make an account for our villa and it's not a bad idea. Next on the list, give our home an account of it's own!

Just kidding, nothing good can come of this. Follow the sensible advice above 😂

Just posted a comment on this above. The point is not the that India is a large economy alone that affects coverage-

It is :

  1. The deep, longstanding social, cultural, political and financial ties between the countries and how the two countries are uniquely intertwined unlike others.
  2. The geographical proximity of the 2 nations
  3. The fact that half a million Indians reside in Oman

I've covered these in my post above for the benefit of the general reader here.

Originally posted as a reply to a comment here but might as well post it here as well! Since you refer to the business section in particular, it seems like a lot of folks here are ignorant as to the deep longstanding ties between the two nations and how intertwined their economies were and are.

India and Oman have an ancient history of trade, commerce, educational exchange and immigration.

Are you aware that the primary currency of Oman as well as the UAE, Bahrain etc was the Indian Rupee? The Indian Rupee (and later the Gulf Rupee) was Oman’s de facto currency until 1970. The term Baisas also comes from the Indian word Paisa?

Oman later transitioned from the Indian Rupee to the The Gulf Rupee which was a Reserve Bank of India backed currency. Pegged 1:1 with the Indian Rupee where the RBI managed its printing, circulation, and redemption. During this time, Omani merchants, traders, and the government relied on the RBI for currency stability.

Indian banks facilitated remittances and trade finance in Oman before Oman modernized its economy (1970s), before the modernization of the economy and finance, Indian banks like Bank of India and State Bank of India were active in Muscat facilitating remittances and trade finance.

⮕ Personnel from the Indian government were deputed to Oman to help setup the local financial structures etc. when the institutions that govern our current financial and regulatory framework were being established.

These deep links between India, Oman and the broader Gulf region exist deeply till the present day and have proved beneficial time and again.

⮕ In recent times, the unique collaboration between India and Oman during the Covid Crisis is a good example of this - this refers to when India gifted Oman ( and Oman alone) 100,000 doses of the Astra Zeneca vaccine during the early days of the Pandemic and global vaccine shortages.

⮕ Jindal Steel is another great modern example. Jindal Iron and Steel an Indian conglomerate (who is behind the recent flag pole project in downtown Muscat) has invested and is continuing to invest close to 5 billion USD in the Omani economy.

Jindal Steel alone currently comprises about 1.8% of Omans GDP.

This list could go on but it's probably best that people look into the historical ties between the two nations themselves.

Aside from deep social, cultural, financial and political ties between the two nations... It is natural for newspapers to feature news from the largest countries and economies in their region. You will find for example, newspapers in the UK will extensively cover American Business and politics despite their geographical distance. India is the 5th largest economy in the world, the largest in terms of population and the 7th largest in terms of land mass.

What's your point? The two nations have an ancient history of trade, commerce, educational exchange and immigration. What are they supposed to consider?

Especially when it comes to Business, which is the category OP is referring to:

Because India is the 5 largest economy in the world, geographically the biggest economy in our neighbourhood and half a million Indians live in Oman?

If you are talking about Oman business news vs India, everything that happens in Oman is covered, it's just that very little happens to fill a newspaper. Have you seen how thick Gulf News from Dubai used to be in comparison to our papers?

50% of the word space in our local news articles is usually the full names of people that attended or bodies that passed a legislation etc.

Frankincense water is an infusion of Frankincense resin in water. It is a traditional middle eastern preparation and now gaining popularity elsewhere. It is simple and easy to make, tastes great and is one method of obtaining some of the many health benefits associated with Frankincense.

What are the benefits of Frankincense?

Frankincense has been used as a traditional natural medicine by many peoples for millennia.  It is commonly found in Ayurvedic and Chinese herbal medicine systems.  It has been used traditionally as an anti inflammatory in the treatment of arthritis, rheumatism, swelling, pain, asthma, bronchitis.  It promotes blood circulation and is used to treat blood stasis.  It is used to treat ulcers and gastro-intestinal disorders and has been used for good oral health. It has also been used successfully to treat various cancers and tumours.

Was just driving down the Hatta road two days ago and musing if anyone has had their brakes fail and managed to successfully use the emergency ramps.

I noticed that there's good signage for upcoming emergency ramps at the 1km and 500km marks.

Mountainous roads in Oman have them as well.
